TBH I don't think this is a garbage fight like some are saying. Monroe to me is better than Stevens, Adama and may offer a better challenge than N'Dam due to N'Dam's weak chin. Monroe may last the distance if he has good stamina and GGG has an off night or just find it difficult to catch a mover like most fighters. Another words, I don't think Monroe is made to order for GGG.

Yeah, Monroe would get a HL reel KO over NDam, and might box the ears off Lemiuex who cant cut a ring off for shiit.

    Bad career move by Monroe.

Too early to be fed to the beast from the east. :-(

I think it was a difficult decision for Monroe. If he gets KO that's the worst scenario, but not totally as he will just me at the level of Stevens and Rosado with potential to improve. If he goes the distance and not looking like Uma or Murray fight, I think he would be mentioned with the level Quillen, Lemiuex and Lee. ie those some say would be somebody GGG should be fighting.

A win over Stevens or Rosado or even C****n Jones woulda put him right in there for this fight.

But he's still one fight away from this type of opportunity. And with the other titlists hiding in the deserts from GGG, someone like Monroe could easily find himself across from a much easier opponent in his first title shot.:think

Easy fight for GGG. GGG is so far above anyone at 160.

    Golovkin is HBO great.

    Monroe is ESPN2 good.

For someone held in the light that Golovkin is by most, this is not a quality fight and is worthy of complaining about by most of his fans since they complain about every other fight that top MW's take that isn't against a fellow top 10 ranked fighter.

However, since I am consistent here, I must say that Golovkin's activity levels warrant this sort of fight and it's not as though Monroe is a bad fighter or anything. It's also easy for me to take that opinion because I don't fancy Gennady the immortal that many of you do. If you are one of those vocal people, then you better have been upset when this was announced.

If Monroe doesn't go on to do something special in the next few years, you all will look like idiots when/if this gets bumped!

Just like you did when you tried hyping up Curtis Stevens. Curtis Stevens at no point deserved to be held in the same esteem as a truly "ranked" fighter. He just never was. But you wouldn't have known it in the 6 weeks before and after he faced Golovkin. Same with Rubio... and same with Monroe now. Rinse and repeat.

Just curious, who should the "truly ranked" fighters at 160 be?

Quillin? The only thing he has done is beat a NDam who had jaw surgery during camp.

Lemiuex? He got schooled by the Rubio you are negative about.

BJS? Not even sure what his best win is, Eubank maybe but it certainly was not a great performance and Eubank had literally only fought cab drivers to that point.

So does everyone but unfortunately there aren't many of the top 10 wanting to face ggg, until big money fights present themselves he's gonna have to take these fights, I quite like it I'm interested to see how he is with an elusive southpaw, I believe this is the type of fighter to give him problems rather than a Murray type who's natural style is to stand infront of his opponent with a high tight guard

Will The Mongoose eat the Cobra known as GGG?
