Courageous Pascal stepped up - now is it Ward's turn to face Kovalev?

Jean Pascal is a true champion who won't back down or avoid anyone. He stepped up to the Kovalev challenge tonight and gave all he had.

We know that Andre Ward has talked in the past about how a boxer is defined by his competition, or something like that.

Is Ward ready to put his words into action and face the best light heavyweight in the world in a super fight that could energize Ward's career and finally give Kovalev the challenge he's been seeking?

Kovalev is far from unbeatable. Pascal certainly had his share of success. I hope we get to see Kovalev-Ward soon and see the best in the sport going at it, like Mayweather-Pacquiao.

Since Ward fought at light heavyweight as an amateur, he seems big enough to handle that division and fighters from it (like Dawson).

Let's hope that Kathy Duva and Roc Nation can sit down soon and make this fight happen.

Pascal definitely gave Kovalev problems. I'll take a rematch. Maybe Ward can be next after Kovalev-Pascal 2?

Ward has to feel good after watching Kovalev-Pascal. Kovalev has holes that Ward probably can exploit.

I would definitely not minds seeing a rematch. I don't think Pascal does any better, and in fact I think Kovalev can do a lot better in a rematch, but it was such a fun fight I'd not mind seeing another go.

That was Pascal with Heredia. I'm not sure a rematch is going to change his odds.

What? Caparello knocked Kovalev down and Pascal easily hit Kovalev. I think Ward has a great chance to end the Kovalev hype. I like Kovalev, but he's not unbeatable by any means.

Kovalev beats ward. Only a huge puncher could beat sergey kovalev.

no one is unbeatable. caparello stepped on kovalevs foot. pascal hit him much harder, and stunned him a couple times.

I don't mind a rematch, but it shouldn't be immediately. Is really unfair for someone like Pascal to take back-to-back huge beatings.

I'm sorry, but you're basing something about Kovalev's ability to absorb punishment from this (see: 0:09-0:13):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__v6_dbY-XI

Frankly, that's crazy. His positioning is bad after overcomitting and transitioning back into the active guard, he gets a punch/push and falls backward, and is up smiling within a second.

Pascal 'easily' hit Kovalev when Kovalev combo'd him with the jab-right-left and had Pascal's looping left to deal with.

This kind of Hail Mary throwing isn't a blueprint for success.

Whenever Kovalev boxed, as opposed to bullrushed Pascal's guard, Pascal was in deep water. Jab, jab, right. Jab, jab, right. Slowly pushing him into the corner and up against the ropes for a right-left-right-uppercut combo. You can see how seriously Kovalev was taking him after Rd 2 that he was bolo punching. He doesn't do that unless he doesn't really respect your ****nal.

See the Caparello fight for another example...

No way Ward would ever take this challenge, he wouldn't stand a chance.

Ward said he is staying at 168. If Andre and Anthony get/keep their titles he won't be fighting for a belt anytime soon either. He won't fight them and AA won't fight him.
