A loss to MP would generate a huge scrutiny to all of FMJ's winnings...regardless of the titles they may have held at the the time, that would then be belittled...It would then be a let down for Floyd...
Not really. It does in the sense that his ATG rating may change a lot depending on this fight, and how people remember him. It doesn't in the sense that he's already one of the top fighters of this generation who achieved a whole lot, and that doesn't change no matter what happens on May 2nd
Floyd has a lot to lose. If this version of Pac can beat him then everyone who thinks Floyd's career has been too carefully managed has their view validated. I believe Floyd has always been overrated and carefully matched. Pac has nothing to lose in this fight, he's the underdog and he doesn't have the added pressure of trying to defend a zero.
It wont really affect Floyd's legacy That has already been irreparably tarnished by his blatant ducking & cherry picking in the past. If its fought on a level playing field then all it will prove is who is the better man TODAY!!! Floyd's chances of ever being rated one of TBE have long gone
Floyds victory will confirm him as TBE the best ever. Ali was the greatest, Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest pound for pound.
Mayweathers Legacy hinged on fighting the Hottest fighter in his division. He never did! He always waited or retired.
The winner of this fight will upgrade his resume. Arguably get inside the Top7 or Top10 of all time. The loser of this fight will be considered a great fighter but not really a member of the elite.
Talking of level playing fields, would yo care to make yourself look an even bigger idiot by stating how many weight stips Paci-Ow has made, including demanding that Mosley come in at 142, more than 2 years before he actually fought him?
Both guys have already cemented themselves as 2 of the best fighters of their generation. Now even though they're both past their best, they're still 2 guys universally recognized as being current top 3 P4P fighters, which really speaks volumes about their greatness being that both men are in there mid to late 30's. They're still fighting at such a high level that a win for either man will surely have them catapult the ATG rankings. A win for either guy will undoubtedly have them looked at as the best fighter of their generation, and dare I say, maybe one of the greatest 20 boxers in the history of the sport.
