One important factor people are overlooking here is Roy's patchy form against European opposition. Fact is Roy spent most of his career competing solely against American level opposition and when he competed against European level ones he didn't fare so well.

Roy's amateur record against European opposition, or as the Right Honourablee Bailey refers to as ''Euro Class''

John Reid - (Irish) Roy got KTFO by a Irishman whose only claim to fame is being the first human to expose Roy's feeble old lady glass mandible in a public setting.

Gordon Joyce (Irish) - the one and only time Roy's career he ever beat an Irishman, usually he was either too busy getting knocked out by them or ducking them like they had Ebola and AIDS at the same time. btw, Joyce was a nobody.

Igor Ruzhnikov (Russian) - Not the first time Roy would lose to Russian. Igor whooped him 4 rounds to 1. Showed him who was boss and sent him packing back home to Pensacola to roll around in rooster sh*t.

Andy Liebing (German) - Roy got his ass paddled 4-1 by a East German no hoper who would later join the pro ranks, finishing with an overall record of 8-9-1 (6 loses by KO)

Stefan Sjoestrand (Swedish) - Roy won an AB stoppage round 2 over this Swedish stiff.

Michal Franek (Czechoslovakia) - Roy won 5-0 against this Czech tomato can.

Evgeni Zaytsev (Russian) - Roy beat this average Russian 5-0. Zaytsev, like Roy, would later also join the pro ranks, finishing with an overall record of 28-15.

Richie Woodhall - (English) Roy won clearly but it was a very competitive fight. Woodhall actually gave him a stiff argument and undoubtedly would won had Roid not been on his PEDS.

Roy's pro fights against Euro Class opposition

Clinton Woods (English) - Roy stopped him but not without a little bit of help from his PEDs. Neither of them were tested for that fight despite the fact that Roy had been popped for roiding only a couple of years earlier.

Denis Lebedev (Russian) Roy got KTFO in brutal albeit thoroughly delicious fashion. Seeing that unfold before my eyes live on a Russian stream was a memory I will always cherish dearly for the rest of my days.

Joe Calzaghe (Welsh) - apart from an illegal clothesline forearm KD in the first round, which should not have been counted, Roy got thoroughly out boxed and humiliated by a Calzaghe who's hands were in such a terrible state he could barely throw more than two or three hard punches per fight.

Pawel Glazewski (Polish) - Despite the fact that Roy was facing a 17-0 Pole in Poland, he was the beneficiary of a disgraceful robbery. Roy lost wide only to get gifted a win by those ''corrupt Europeans'' who he never used to shut up about robbing him if he fought over there.

Courtney Fry (English) - a once decent amateur who never accomplished anything as a pro. Fry retired in the 5th round.

Euro Class level operators Roy ducked as a pro

Steve Collins (Irish) - Roy ducked him like he had the Plague in his prime and is still to this day ducking him despite him going on record saying that he would never turn down a fight against another member of the male of the species if they came over to his backyard and called him out to his face mano et mano, which of course is exactly what Collins did, that and stare straight down the camera and call him a gutless bumhole engineer coward during one of his own post-fight interviews.

Roy ducking Collins is literally the single longest duck in both the history of ducking and pugilism. It's a duck that has spanned 2 whole decades.:deal

Dariusz Michalczewski (Polish) - Despite Roy and his huggers claims to the contrary, Roy never wanted any part of Daruisz, instead hiding behind the excuse that those ''Evil Koreans'' were going to rob him again if he fought over in Germany, East Asia.

Roy's record against European opposition: 8-5 but it should really be 7-6 if we take the disgraceful robbery in Poland into consideration, which we certainly should.

Serge's grading of Roy's foray into Euro Class: D+ or poor.

But the chances are, he'd never have taken those shots, because he'd have been landing on Kov.

Pascal threw wild shots and had success on numerous occasions. So what do you think Roy could have done with his speed, power and accuracy? Jean Pascal proved to everyone last night, that a guy with Roy's offensive capabilities, would have tagged Kov easily.

lol Pascal has an iron jaw, Roy would've been out cold twitching like a fish on a riverbank after eating 1% of what Kovalev landed on him, and like I said in an earlier post, he definitely would've been catching Roy. The only people who doubt this are the members of the Roy Jones Masturbation Appreciation Society, all of whom are delusional beyond words and totally brainwashed into thinking Roy was literally Superman because of his athleticism. None of us residents down here on planet Earth buy that nonsense.

Stunning post. I may be incorrect, but think Roy was mandatory to the excellent Z Erdei's title but decided not to challenge for it.
Euro class which also includes Euroasia is often the very elite level.

Only thing Pascal PROVED in the fight was was that Kovalev has the heaviest hands of 175 weight class. Nobody had ever KD'd Pascal before.

Roy had incredible reflexes, and was hard to hit clean in his prime.

But it's now quite clear, that Kov is easy to hit clean and often.

Then factor in Roy's incredible speed, accuracy, and power from unorthodox angles, and it isn't hard to predict that Roy would have had lots of success.

But looking at Roy's offense and how Kov was tagged last night, the chances of Roy shipping the same shots as Pascal did, would have been remote in my opinion, not forgetting that Roy had great footwork and reflexes.

Prime RJJ toys with him and completely detroys him to the point where Kovalev looks irrelevant enough for idiots to call him "another joke opponent".
