He flattens his opponent with that punch here. Even though the guy was already hurt finishing him off in that manner with a shot like that is kinda crazy. 7:55 [YT]mPOMbIl0woA[/YT]
I was in the suspect Chin camp as well but he took a few good punches last night that I haven't seen him take before. I do not think he is Iron Chinned but he certainly has a 'good' Chin and better than I thought it was before last night. Wonder why he wears Grant Gloves maybe to protect the hands more I know that is why Wlad Klitschko and Vitali switched to them later in his career.
I have not been this excited by a fighter since Roy Jones to be honest.. I believe he can move up in weight and get more titles, and I know he will/would beat Stevenson. Ward moving up to take him on would be interesting though, even in Oakland.
Agreed, he certainly felt those shots from Pascal, and a few of them backed him off for a bit.. But he was relentless and would keep coming at the right times.. He is a smart fighter, he showed that. He also showed a good chin IMO. I never knew about the gloves, you are probably right though, he has enough power to cause his own hands serious damage.
Stevenson is a dead man walking he has a very shaky Chin it is borderline a Glass Jaw and I can't fathom what would happen to him from Kovalev landing flush. Ward would get destroyed also I don't think he would move up to 175 for that.
It wouldn't take long... His only chance would be a crazy early shot. As for Ward moving up, one could only hope, in a perfect world where the best always fight the best.:good
jones jr slips and ducks he doesn't cover up and let kovalev have his way. pascal had kovalev in trouble and he was fighting hurt. jones wins on speed and skill
And traps look at Pascal how he was able to pull counter that right Jones was a much more effective puncher with power in both hands
I am betting if we don't see a Stevenson fight next we get a Pascal rematch which I would be fine with. I read Kovalev also now has some mandatory but not sure when it has to be enforced. Stevenson can't be comfortable after what he saw last night
He's a real character too. He's actually very witty and charismatic. I'd love to see him flatten Ward. It would be fair comment to say that I'm not nor likely will ever be a Ward fan. lol
completely diffrent class 100% agree. just shows a little skill can go along way today because the skill in some divisions is so weak
Since Roy Jones Jr never got his ass handed to him during his best run, it doesn't make sense to "think" that this or that fighter could have done him in. What you can do, is to point out fighters that it would be interesting to see him in the ring with. I would have been intrigued to see Glen Johnson have a go at it when Roy was game, because I think he had the right assets and the right strategy. While I agree Roy seemed to lack energy in their fight, I think a part of the reason to why Roy looked so bad was Glen himself. I also think this goes for Roys fight with Calzaghe (46-0). Sergey Kovelev would clearly have been a dangerous foe for Roy because he has savage power, sturdy chin and a boxing brain. He would been more of a threat than John Ruiz, who by many is seen as one of Roys best wins :deal I agree Roy would be able to land on him, and Roys power could have caused him problem. Kovalev also would have problem finding Roy, even if we take into account that he could have walked him into the ropes with little effort. But this goes for pretty much any of Roys opponents, real or imagined. If the rounds are allowed to tick by, I think Kovalev would be worn down by the shots Roy dishes out, and be frustrated by not beeing able to land with the force he has to. It's up to Kovalev to hurt Roy, and hurt him badly, so he loses his selfconfidence and the plot with it. From this perspective, you could say that the Krusher has the pressure on him, and that he's the one at disadvantage. In a business-as-usual scenario, Roy is in for another win.
