Power is nothing without the ability to land it, and little in the long run if you dont have the mix of defense, stamina and chin to deal with what comes back at you.
Actually GGG's defense is better and looks like he has a better chin, kovalev fought better competition so far, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a better fighter.
Kov showed it all. Jab, jab to the body...straight body punching, big right, hit the arms, and even pulled a Wlad by putting his weight on Pascals neck and shoulders. Complete fighter. GG hasn't come close to being under this kind of fire yet gets more props than Kov. Foh. Real boxing fans know.
He knocked and almost finished pascal in the third and pascal survived just because he has an iron chin and is relentless.
He didn't finish him in the third though. Kov used other skills to help set up his power to win the fight later.
Anyway at 160 I see GGG stopping quillin, lee , lemieux and jacobs . I give quillin the best chance and rate that fight as a 70/30 in favor of GGG, while kovalev vs stevenson is a real 50/50 fight, so Kovalev is more vulnerable in his devision than GGG at 160.
Quillin is the only real threat to GG. And Kov will bulldozer through Stevens if they ever fight. :good I want to like GG, but he has to be truly tested. I can't judge him on onesided fights. Everyone who gets kos like GG look good until they are truly punched in the mouth over and over.
The only reason Pascal had any success was because he was almost KO'd and Kovalev relaxed his defense while going for the KO. Credit to Pascal for being able to recover from that crazy beating and hit Kov with a few haymakers... but lets be honest, nothing he hit Kov with really hurt him even the flush haymakers... I don't see Pascal being competitive with Kov in a rematch that Lederman was screaming for
Kov didn't relax anything. He tried for the ko early, Pascal took his best and rallied...and Kov used his pure boxing skills and second win to prevail.
