Cotto by a mile. Not only did he get it from a diminished champion, he also hasn't defended it.

Yeah and he can come in at what he wants. I just expect him to let his opponent come in at the limit.

    I hate catch weights.

Cotto is still yet to fight at the middleweight limit so his lineal status to me is little more than a bad joke.

Sergio fights once a year. Sergio's fans: "We're ok with that."
Sergio ducks GGG. Sergio's fans: "We're ok with that."
Sergio cherrypicks Cotto. His fans: "We're ok with that."

Cotto moves up in weight and destroys Sergio. Sergio's fans:

Sergio fought more than twice a year. He fought once a year in 2014 and 2013 because of injuries. Cotto hasn't fought since July because.....? Can you give me an answer?

And with that, Sergio was always injured while GGG was actually relevant. Sergio planned on fighting GGG after the Cotto fight. Sergio wasn't afraid. His promoter on the otherhand was concerned though

Judging by this rule they have on their site:

The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.

Shouldn't he actually be stripped of it anyway?

    Yes, he should have.
But like Ward before him, they probably wait until he has violated 2 rules and being well on his way for 3 before they'd actually strip him.

Also with this rule, Mayweather should be getting stripped anyday at 154:

The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).

Maybe unfairly and not his fault, Rigondeaux should be stripped for the same violation as Hernandez after April being it's two years since he beat a top 5 guy. :think

true. I'm not even getting into Floydweather because the rules obviously don't apply to him for some reason.
Rigo is a victim of his own class in this case, and if GGG ever wins the Ring belt he might hit the same wall. But, rules are rules.

He beat the f^ck out of Martinez who was still on people's p4p list and undefeated. Hell, people weren't giving Cotto a chance. As they say, hindsight is 20-20.

Stevenson beat Dawson who was coming off a TKO loss against Ward. As of now, Stevenson has yet to even fight the guys that Kovalev has been running through. FFS, he's fighting Sakio Bika next. :patsch

It's not even a question that it's Stevenson.

"Sergio has fought more than twice a year... except when he hasn't." :rofl

If you want to play the promoter angle for Sergio, it's the same with Cotto. Cotto was a free-agent and just changed promoters to Roc Nation. He was having promotional issues.

Oh, Golovkin was a ****ing middleweight champion and people on here were hyping him even before his fight with Proska. Martinez ducked him, easily. It's funny how Sergio fans also get angry about Cotto saying Sergio wasn't relevant until he so called knew about his knee injury. :rofl

They play the same **** when it comes to Golovkin, though.

I like Kovalev and I hate Stevenson, like everybody else.

    But c'mon now.

The worst opponents either Kovalev or Stevenson have fought since Adonis won the belt in 2013 are Sukhotsky (Adonis opponent), Blake Caparello (Kovalev opponent), and Cedric Agnew (Kovalev opponent). While Adonis' opposition doesn't compare to Kovalev's, he also holds several wins much better than several of Kovalev's recent opponents. So let's be honest if we are trying to appear serious here.

Yes but also don't rewrite history.

Everyone who expressed concerns about Sergio's knee also were the first ones (as is normal for preemptive excuse making) to say extreme things such as: "But Sergio could whip him even if the leg were amputated," "It doesn't matter because Sergio would need to have both legs injured and an arm hacked off to lose," and "Even with a bum knee he could spark him out in his sleep."
