I'm not saying he missed a lot but he missed more than I have seen him miss in other fights. I wasn't expecting that. Most people seem really impressed by Kovalev in this fight but this was the least impressive I have seen him look.
He fought a dangerous challenger and world class boxer...and passed. He hit Pascal more than Froch and Hop did. On a side note, Pac's fans seem to never give Kov props because of their love for GG. You ever notice that? Anyway, world class fighters with skills and power are harder to beat in style as your comp grows. The fact that Kov tkod Pascal is very impressive.
I never really rated Pascal that highly so the fight was more competitive than I was expecting. No I've never noticed anything like that from Pac's fans. Everybody seems to give Kovalev props especially since he dominated Hopkins.
What do the Kovalev critics have to say now? He beat Hopkins and Pascal back to back. That's VERY impressive.
No disresspect intended, but it seems that you knew very little about Pascal before this fight. Pascal was a live dog.
Learn some things...??? From you...??? Like I stated, list your boxers you train and your qualifications; see how they stack up against mine...!!! I can guarantee you that my fighters and qualifications are vastly superior to yours...!!!
In a fight you go with what works best. I did see a lot of right hands but it's not like he never threw some lefts. He landed a few well timed left hooks. My only criticism is Kovalev isn't hard to hit but with an offense like his, coupled with a good chin it's a weak complaint.
I've read the entire thread. I have nothing technical to add since IDKSAB however I'm always amused that in this particular sport, the winner is often criticized and the loser praised Where I come from in Oakland, Cali we have a saying "Just Win Baby". That's our bottom line. To say Kovalev didn't do this or that is like saying Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron couldn't bunt properly. What does it matter? I doubt these perceived flaws will catch up to him. Reminds me of old African proverb, "The Rhino has bad eye sight, but that's not the Rhino's problem" :smoke
The OP is just flat out wrong. Kovalev used his left hook several times to clobber Pascal. I guess the OP cannot tell right from left.:think
His jab is his best weapon. It sets up the right and allows the hook off it. You obviously know little or are glacomic...
