Was at great small show in Newport last Friday night.I have been to all the small shows n Wales over last 4 yeasrs. Fight for fight a lot better than last matchroom ppv card. Ok the level was a lot lower but they were much better matched. Anyone else on here go to small hall shows?
Small hall shows will always be better matchdd than the typical matchroom/FW show as they aren't protecting their fighters like the aforementioned two do, much much better for closer and unpredictable fights though
Been to a few at the Camden Centre and yeah I agree, everyone involved tends to 'want it' a little bit more
the best small hall shows should be on Boxnation. they would do just as well as some of the yank cards that start at 3am.
It so easy these days there is no excuse for boxing shows not to be on tv unless of course promoter does not want it on the box.
I do a bit of a mix, If I am doing a msall hall though I look for it having atleaset 1 competitive fight on. Understand that most the undercard is going to be home fighter v journeyman but I'll rarely waste my £ if theres not atleast 1 50/50ish fight as the main event.
Yeah. I expected Boxnation to broadcast endless small hall shows. Would cost them next to nothing. Shame.
The only problem is that Boxnation is a small budget channel with an ever decreasing small subscriber base. The channel specialises in repeats of old fights
I've been to quite a few Steve Wood & Dave Coldwell shows.. I'd say that even the small hall shows are beginning to get quite a few "easy" fights on them... Obviously it's a given to stick someone like Kristian Laight or Sid Razak in with a novice to bring them on & tutor them. But when the headline is a prospect with a record of somethin like 15-1 in with a European with say 3-12 then it's a bit of a let down. One that springs to mind is a vip show at Colne with Shayne Singleton fighting a kid who was 19-13-1, whilst shayne was 16-0 & it was for a WBC belt ... That's unacceptable match making to the fans who know they're stuff.
With masters titles not being allowed on bbboc shows from june we sud see more area title fights and competitive top of the bills
You'd like to think , but I wouldn't be surprised to see the same type fighters on the bills. Tbh I disagree with the getting rid of the masters titles, but I do agree that they were exploited and abused as head of the bill for an international fight - then it's the international copper flip flop belt on the line!!
