I agree with you completely about Porter being incredibly overrated IB, however........Thurman's chin worries me, how about you?

Porter did show a decent beard against Brook, who hits hard. According to Matthew Hatton, much harder than Canelo does at 154- so I don't think he has a bad chin.

I would love to see the fight but surly this should be an eliminator. One guy who I felt was possibly unlucky to lose the title vs. another who's unlucky not to have one.

I'm not convinced by his mandible either.

I can see him having a Mares (v Gonzalez) moment against somebody soon- perhaps even a guy he's favoured to beat.

When he was hurt by Soto-Karass in round 1, I worried about his reaction while hurt and if a faster/ better finisher might have had him in serious trouble. I also think he looked hurt in the Diaz fight in round 3.

Was Thurman not promoted to regular WBA champion?

People have been saying that for a while now but nothing I've seen is too worrying. Bundu getting his respect? Chaves stunning him and bloodying his nose? JSK shaking him up? Quandray Robertson dropping him with a counter left hook early in his career?

None of that is sending up red flags, to me. With his style, where he takes lots of chances, if his chin were glass I'd expect it to have been exposed a lot more by now.

I have full faith in Keith Thurman's punch resistance. Quite frankly I think he has come through very tough opposition as a prospect with little to no problem it seems he has to do it the hard way I had full faith in him after the Bundu fight a very under rated opponent, and if he gets past a guy like Porter given his already great recod you have to say he gives anyone at 147lbs a hard time.

Fair enough but I trust my Internal Glass Jaw Detector (IGJD):yep:!: and it hits red when I see One Time the same way it does when I see Imam and Sadam Ali. Its usually always pretty accurate. Although I could be wrong.

Aye but come one that's a farce mate. As far as I am concerned I am not sure if I even regard the "Super" WBA belt as a proper title anyore but I certainly don't consider the "regular" title as anything more than the equivilent to an international belt.

I'd like to see the winner of this fight take on Brook. As far as I am concerned these guys are the real fighters and Amir Khan is just a carefully matched hype job at WW. Any of these three beat Khan by stoppage and I'd also favour them all over Garcia but not 100% on that.

Porter is every bit as much a carefully matched hype job as Khan, if not more.

    Thurman and Brook are legit.

Styles make fights, and if you thought the pressure Guerrero put on Thurman in the last few rounds was bad, imagine Porter for 12 rounds... it would be a war in my opinion. 50/50 fight.

To give Porter some credit, there wasn't really all that much hype around him (compared to say, Broner) before he actually got a decent victory against Alexander where he was considered a pretty big underdog.

I got the impression Golden Boy made that fight thinking Alexander would win.

Hehe, a year ago this was seen as a very interesting and competitive match up between two highly touted American talents, heck Porter was seen by many as probably the better of the two after beating Malignaggi, it's funny how quickly it changes in boxing.

    :lol::lol::yep

I made a thread about 18 months back saying how Brook would destroy Broner with ease and was informed by more people than not I DKSAB. Not many people disagree with that anymore. (Other than of course, Broner's deluded fanboys).
