No worries. Woods doesn't really look the hard type either. He actually comes across as a little dumb too, albeit a likable good guy.
Foxy 01, I'm not interested in the poll. I'm saying that all talks broke down in 2001. Dariusz didn't chase Roy in 2002. Everything came to a close in 2001, and then Roy briefly considered fighting Calzaghe, and the winner of the Hopkins vs Tito fight. So you're looking at very late 96/early 97, to 2001. So it wasn't six years, and he could hardly say he'd chased him, when Kohl wouldn't sit down with Davis to explore every possible avenue. It was a waste of time though. Everyone knew Roy wasn't going to Germany. That's right, because he had all of the belts, and was the consensus pound for pound King. You need to take into consideration two things: 1. Dariusz publicly declared that he'd be open to fighting in the U.S. 2. I don't believe that specific figures were actually discussed for the proposed double header, because Kohl turned down the idea of it. So how was it derisory? It would have been a double main event to introduce Dariusz to the U.S. public. The fact that Kohl turned it down flat through the media, without even discussing the notion with Kerry Davis, speaks volumes to me. Again, I don't believe that any specifics were discussed to bring Dariusz to the U.S. because they never got that far. Boxing's a business, and boxers only look out for themselves. Roy was never going to put his belts on the line, and fight somewhere he didn't want to fight, just because Dariusz had been hard done by four years earlier. Why would he have fought outside of the U.S. when he'd already got all of the belts? The only way you could have expected him to have gone to Germany, is if Dariusz had still held the belts. If Dariusz had still got the WBA and IBF belts during the time of negotiations, then Roy would had to have made concessions if he'd have wanted them. How was it an excuse though? He had been robbed in the Olympics, and he had every right to be concerned about going to Germany, when he'd seen Dariusz cheat against Roch. With regards to the titles, Roy had everything to lose and nothing to gain. Again, you're being silly. Do you seriously think that any fighter who already held all of the belts, would/should have gone to Germany because of what had happened to Dariusz four years earlier? How was that the same though? Tarver had avenged his defeat to Harding by knocking him out, and when Roy fought Tarver after dropping back from HW, it was for a big fight. But there was no point in Dariusz fighting Richard Hall, especially twice, and it tells me that he wasn't interested in anything apart from defending his WBO belt against whoever Kohl put in front of him. That's why I keep telling you to look at his resume. In your opinion, Roy didn't want a big fight against Dariusz. But after talks broke down, Roy proved that he wanted big fights, by going out and having them. Whereas Dariusz didn't. That tells me a lot. Roy also knocked a few people out. But Dariusz had a lot more fights at the weight. But there's many factors to take into account when assessing wins. I don't see how Dariusz had the better resume. He had more wins, but that was just circumstances. For me, it's quality over quantity. I think it's a realistic assumption to make. Don't you think he'd have gone on to beat Griffin? Look at the caliber of fighter. Look at the shot he threw. Look at how long the fight lasted. Roy knocked a very good fighter out in Griffin, with a lead uppercut, not just an uppercut, but a lead uppercut, in under three mins. All things considered, it was a spectacular knockout. Which knockout win by Dariusz surpassed that? If you like, but Harmon is irrelevant. (no disrespect to him) Hill was a better fighter, and again, Roy was the only person to stop him in his entire career. :good :good No, he was never that heavy. Roy's fight night weight at LHW, was normally around 182, give or take a few pounds. There's not many fighters who burn muscle in a short period of time. Quacked like a Mallard? :rofl :good Again, he and Kohl had the opportunity to explore every avenue, but they didn't. In your honest opinion, does Dariusz hold a win at LHW, that surpasses Roy's win over Tarver? The low blows are another debate altogether. I'm talking about how he rolled around, after Roch had lightly tapped him after the break. How did he not cheat? It was disgraceful. Who's to say that he couldn't have pulled something like that against Roy? We know that. But it would still have been three belts up against one. Again, regarding the titles, Roy had everything to lose and nothing to gain. Likewise. I love these debates. :good
What's so ridiculous? I'd put the Toney version of Roy who weighed 174, in a fantasy fight against Kov. Why not? He was even better than he was at LHW. There's no way in my opinion, that Kov would be stopping him in three. The difference in speed would have been ridiculous.
I thought Lampley and Ugly were about to kiss there at the end when they were telling each other what a pleasure it had been to work together. Probably reminded Ugly of his prison days.:rofl
Very interesting, good stuff. Regarding why Roy had the fight in Oregon, it was because of his business relationship with Nike. That's why he had the extravagant entrance. I believe that Michael Jordan was in the audience along with the Nike reps, and he wanted to put on a show. He looked a lot more motivated than in some of his other fights from around that time. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/...den-Will-Host-Roy-Jones-Jr-Clinton-Woods.aspx I was so pi$$ed off that it wasn't shown live. Do you remember it? It was only available on Sunday Grandstand. :good
Got over yourself you thick Murican nobhead. Fighter of the year by what? Some scabby Yank magazine that nobody gives a fvck about? Johnson was only ever a good Middleweight, which is why he won 31 on the trot until Hopkins. That is why he only won 23 Lost 19 and Drew 2 above Middleweight. Knocking out your fvcking chinless wonder doesn't make him anything more than that, a guy with an AVERAGE record at best above 160. I've told you before I don't give a fvck what sh it like you thinks about Facts, and Stats, they are reality, and your boy stands at 25 fights at L / Heavy Won 20, L 5, Stopped 11 Decisioned 9 and was KTFO 2 Your slime ridden opinions are worth as much as you. Sweet fvck all. So you just keep convincing your stupid self that Jones was some big punching Light Heavy. I want to see you wriggle and squirm some more with your pathetic " Roid had bad hands " bullsh it, so tell us when this occurred, because he managed to stop Kelly with a clean KO. Or is it like all the rest of your apologist excuses, the hand damage became apparent AFTER he started getting KTFO?:rofl:rofl:rofl:hi:
You can convince yourself as long as you like ( like most morons ) but facts and statistics are irrefutable. They show beyond doubt that Roids punch power diminished at 175 compared to 160 - 168, hence the 11 stoppage wins out of 25 fights, and only 3 clean KO's. Now look at the clean KO's at lower than 175. There are 9 of them. Whether or not your retar ded brain believes it or not that shows that both his power became less effective, and the naturally bigger opponents could take his punches. So just keep dreaming that Roid Jones has a fvcking chance against Kovalev. I'd say most of the fools who voted for Roid on this thread are just like you. Know nothing fvcking Muricans.
Both times by , wait for it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 35 year olds.:hi:
You can go on about the Hill fight until the cows come home but it won't alter the fact that Jones has been knocked out himself by 4 guys at or above 175, none of which were young prime fighters. I'm not interested in excuses about his age for reasons above, due to the fact that the youngest man to beat him ( Lebedev ) was 32. Joe 36, and the other all older.
Back for another beating I see.. atsch Winning Ring Magazine FOTY is an honor. Just because you don't care about it, doesn't mean others don't... Go and look back at all of the Fighters of the Year, they usually had a very good year. 15 of those 31 wins came from fighters with losing records, and 15 others had pitiful records with several barely above .500.:rofl I am going to show you something that I don't expect your idiotic brain to understand.. 4-4 against world class opposition is more proven than going 8-0 against cans..:deal Thats because he was fighting better fighters dummy. So what, he has fought on way past his best. Hall of famer Virgil Hill said that body shot from Roy was the hardest he had ever been hit... This is coming from someone who went 12 with DM, and fought at CW... Jones was a big puncher at LHW. Like I said, the more you post on Roy the more you expose yourself for knowing fvck all.. His hand problems were known as early as Hopkins, he had a broken hand and couldn't punch the heavy bag training for Toney, and was quoted saying he wanted to preserve his hands while he was prime at LHW... Foxy pwned again.:yep:deal
I distinctly remember Woods saying he wasn't hurt by the head shots of Jones, he just didn't have an answer for Jones speed. Then again NOT EVEN Woods trainer would have called him slick, or mobile. He was always easy to hit.
It has nothing to do with Boxrec you Murican nobhead, it has to do with FACTS and STATS. If reading is too complicated for like as it is for most of your retar ded countrymen, try the nice little pictures on You Tube, if nothing else the flashing images will make you feel better. :hi:
