Gennady Golovkin is clearly an excellent fighter and potential superstar but I am noticing more and more smoke n mirrors surrounding his career. This fairytale that he's being ducked by everyone and their mother needs to come to an end especially with this laughable fight that has just been signed against Willie Munson Junior. I was actually one of the people who defended Golovkin's next choice of opponent because I believed there was no one good really available at middleweight but I'm going to have to re-evaluate my position. Why wasn't Erislandy Lara considered? Today at the press conference Golovkin's manager, Tom Loeffler, said that Gennady had requested a southpaw mover and who better than Lara? After the Murray fight, Loeffler quite clearly says there's no reason why Erislandy Lara couldn't be Golovkin's next opponent.... Having watched the video again now, I notice the little caveats he drops in about HBO and whether they want to put the fight on. Then I read this quote from him. I'm not sure when it was made but apparently, it's from his ****ter page. He [Lara] is not approved by HBO and never on our radar, he should be calling out Quillin, if he wins, he becomes interesting, Loeffler said. Lara fights on Showtime and had draws with Vanes and Molina, GGG vs Stevens=high ratings, who watches Lara? Lara fights on Showtime and is Jr Middle, why would he be on our radar? Lara should call out Floyd, same promoter same TV and he beats both Khan and Maidana, should be easy fight to make. Good fight between 2 solid guys. Yes, same promoter same TV and same weight, makes more sense for Lara to call out Floyd. That statement is absolutely pathetic. Lara was not approved by HBO but Willie Jr is? And then trying to pie Lara off onto other opponents - it's akin to something that the regular re****ed fanboy on NSB would do I have given Golovkin something of a pass for not fighting Andre Ward. I understand he is waiting to see what happens with the Cotto situation. But why can't he be fighting someone like Lara now? I even suggested Bernard Hopkins - why wasn't that fight pursued? He's an HBO fighter, isn't he? The speed at which this Willie Jr fight was made suggests that they had this **** already in the can....against a can....and never had any intentions of securing an opponent that would pose GGG real problems. Can anyone confirm or shed some light onto why Golovkin-Lara wasn't pursued? Same for Golovkin-Hopkins. The fans deserve answers.
I don't know the ins and outs but I agree, this does seem like a giant step in the wrong direction for GGG's career.
It's obvious that Team Triple Duck only want to fight the fights in which their man can win *and* look like a monster while doing it. That's why they keep lining up these TOMATO CANs for the Triple Duck to knock over. Lara is a winnable fight for the Triple Duck - but Erislandy WILL make Golovkin looks like ****. I can almost promise you that Hopkins has enough left in the tank to take the Triple Duck 12 rounds and win a close decision.
golovkin would wreck lara to the bone lara can't even take shots from guys in 154 let alone guys at 160
lara fight is a lose lose situation. If he wins against Lara everyone will cry Lara is Canelos leftovers and he's a jmw so the win means nothing and if ggg loses they cry he's a hype job . Lara brings no money to the table, loses all big fights he's in controversial or not , and hasn't done anything to earn a shot at the middleweight champ(not that this joke of opponent has) but gotta look at both perspectives. Lara calls everyone out simply because his skills do not pay no damn bills . Maybe if he got in the ring and proved a point against someone instead of being inactive he could get fights Since when is Lara some god, man couldn't even out box fcking canelo who isn't half the fighter ggg is
Well talk is cheap... He says Lara should callout quillin but he goes and fights feather fisted Monroe?? " Monroe brings more money to the table then Lara doe!" "Hes the boxcino champ doe" plz stop..
How do you know that? Lara would be a very credible win, after all his crazy fans say he's a natural 154 pounder, why not fight Lara?
Everyone realizes that statement was made over a year ago, and K2 told Lara team to get approved by HBO but Haymon never bothered right? Dont be fooled, no matter how much forum detritus talks about Lara wanting a fight Al Haymon has zero interest in it. The only reason Lara twitter manager called out GGG back then is because the fight was literally impossible to make. Was during height of Cold War. That wasnt even a real call out, let alone an act of bravery.
