ok guys,i'm confused with reach measurements.boxrec and hbo are giving different ones.
for example, boxrec had george foreman fey years ago at 82 inches, now they had him 79 inches, which is what hbo had listed him.
hbo had ray mercer at 76,and tim whiterspoon at 76.5,yet boxrec has them mercer 77 and witherspoon 78.
boxrec has golota 79 inches, and hbo had him 84 which is ridicoulos.
also hbo had lennox lewis listed at 82.
bernard hopkins reach was sometimes listed at 71,sometimes 73,sometimes 76...crazy
also james toney reach was listed at first mccallum fight at 76 which definitely is not accurate.
muhammad ali was for a long time listed 80 inch reach on boxrec, now they switched to 78 which seems correct as they measured it 78 on a tv show with wilt chamberlain.
biggest hbo fail was when they listed tyson 79.5 reach in the mitch green fight :lol:

I don't think that any published figures are particularly reliable.

later it was listed at 84 inch, but you can see in the bruno and mercer fights that they listed him at 82 inch reach.

i thought some tv house like hbo and showtime had some "examination" where they measure fighters stats, like reach, height etc...

check the mercer and bruno fights, they had him listed at 82 inch.on boxrec he is 84,so who knows?he definitely had a long reach, but maybe 84 inch is an exaggeration

HBO seem to make it up as the go along they had Tyson's height at 5'10 then 6'0 before settling for 5'11 and a half inch looool

I have a hard time believing Sonny Liston has an 84" reach even with big hands and broad shoulders, if he truly did that means he has the same supposed reach as Lebron James.

I think he likely did. His arms look very long despite being thick, add width & freakishly disproportionate hands & it is possible.
Rahman had the 2nd longest "ape factor" I ever saw for a boxer, listed at 7" also, though he 6' 2".

Liston's reach was listed at 80 1/2 inches vs Leotis Martin

Which was not what he was usually listed at.
Who knows really, a + 8" ape factor is still very large.
What Shavers had listed, & their builds are similar.
Liston looks longer than Shavers to me.
More so assuming most others are exagerated.
But given the hands chest & arms, visually comapring him to other guys-even his fingers were very long- + 11" (or 1/2" more if really 6' 1/2", heights are commonly rounded up, as in real life) is plausible to me.

i could easily see how liston could have been 84...first of all, liston had very broad shoulders, second he had huge hands, and third he had very long arms, especially forearms...judging by the pics,he defintely had a crazy reach
