just saw that. I wasn't a huge fan of Gatti, I don't think he had "elite" skills, but Gatti's name was always there. Gatti consistently had casual fans attention, so I can rationalize him as elite. I understand your Arce wavering, there were a few others I could stretch and consider elite.
If they are both elite fighters I don't see how either could pull off a masterclass ??? What constitutes a masterclass ??? For me it means you never/barely got hit
completely forgot about this. The level of this schooling over a perceived p4p is about as rare as it gets.
Delahoya vs Trinidad for the first 10 rounds :yep Mayweather vs Hatton/Canelo Hopkins vs Trinidad Wright vs Trinidad Pacaquiao vs Barrera/Cotto Barrera vs Hamed
Sumbu Kalambay vs. Mike McCallum Miguel Lora vs. Daniel Zaragoza Pernell Whitaker vs. Greg Haugen Michael Nunn vs. Frank Tate Roy Jones jr. vs James Toney Winky Wright vs. Tito Trinidad / Shane Mosley
Mayweather vs Corrales 2001. Corrales was Ring Magazine #5 pound for pound, and was possibly the most masterful perfomance in the past 20 years.
Its all subjective but Arce doesn't qualify as elite to me, neither does Pavlik, Canelo, Gatti, Hatton, Tua. I know my standards for elite are high but all the fighters above are C+ to B+ level fighters overall (imo), especially on the nights they got dominated. In fact, the Trinidad and Mosley that Winky beat, don't qualify as elite to me either.... Masterclassing over a p4p, elite fighter is very rare (honestly the donaire fight I listed is borderline to me, and the Trinidad Hopkins fight only happened because Tito was fighting above his best weight) idk, just imo
