Holyfield by dec, bigger than Charles, more durable, a lot stronger, and just as tough as Rocky. Prime Charles would have given Rocky hell. Holyfield was a better heavy than Ezzard imo.
Rocky has to much power, and Holyfield WILL elect to trade at some point with Rocky. Rocky beats Holyfield down in 6-7 rounds. Holyfield is bigger and stronger than Charles, and as durable as Walcott. But He fights more like Moore.... Just not as well( No offense to Holyfield, but Moore was slicker and craftier). Rocky is able to land one to many Suzie Q's.
Charles was only marginally smaller than Holyfeild by nature. Without bulking up It is the kind of difference in size that there was between Walcott and Charles. Not a factor. I think the bulked up version of Holyfeild has less chance than cruiserweight Evander who would pause within a round to recharge himself. Gassed out against Bowe and Moorer at crucial moments etc. Don't forget Holyfeild had to bulk up to get over 191. Charles was over 180 as a champ.
Marciano has too much power? Did he hit harder than Lewis,or even Bowe? Moore was a 40 something old man whose chin was not in Evander's class, yet he dropped Rocky.
Moore knocked out heavyweight contenders in the 1960s. Holyfeild had a better chin than Moore but Archie hit harder.
For me a good indication would be the way Evander lost to the 5'9 James Toney and had scary moments with Bert Cooper and others who applied pressure and went to the body. Intelligent pressure and attrition, body shots would wear Evander down to be stopped. You are not going to go out and KO Evander with one shot but break him down with body shots and get him ripe to be stopped. For the Toney fight Evander was past prime but arguably beat Valuev afterwards, still Toney laid out the game plan. Attrition and power shots to the body arms and head and a late rd KO or RSC for Marciano
Moore Ko'd 6'2 top contender Bob Baker (who beat Valdes) he could certainly punch but was also a master technician and pin point puncher. Walcott was also a great pin-point puncher and he showed that talent in fights with Louis,Charles and Marciano......the experience these guys had also weighed in
Moore didn't stop any rated heavyweight contenders in the 60's, in fact he only fought 7 heavyweights in that decade.
Holyfield was 41 when he lost to Toney,do you want to speculate how a 41 years old Marciano would have fared in his place? BTW Toney is 5'10" though what relevance that has escapes me. Bert Cooper arguably hit as hard as Moore so scarey moments are about even. Holyfield certainly is more proven at taking super heavyweights shots than Marciano, a couple of whose fights would have been stopped today because of cuts.
To say Moore was not in Evander's class is a bit to much. Both men are legends. Holyfield has a better chin, but not impregnable. He is also easier to hit than Moore. I also think Marciano hit as hard, or close enough ,as Bowe, and Lewis. he generated incredible power for a man his size. This is an fan favorite fight, awesome war. My take stands though, Holyfield could take rounds off, Marciano would not. Will Holyfield put Marciano down?... probably once. He will trade with Marciano, and that will end him. Marciano was a power punching machine. I think Rocky catches Evander a few to many times.
My post clearly stated: "Moore was a 40 something old man whose chin was not in Evander's class," Past his best Charles traded with Marciano and went 15rds . As a heavyweight Holyfield was tougher and better than Charles . Marciano was a grinder, relentless but steady in tempo ,Holyfield would match his work rate. Where does Marciano show he had the one punch power of Lewis? Against a near 40 years old Walcott? Where else? Holyfield, when perceived as being past his best was too tough for Tyson. What does Marciano bring to the table that Tyson did not?
Alejandro Lavorante was rated rather highly. Pete Radmacher was beating chuvalo around the time Archie Moore knocked him out.
