Just want to point out that, once again, it seems like there is a very vocal percentage, near majority this time, picking against Mayweather.
99% of people here in the UK, boxing fan or not think Mayweather will win comfortably. Ever since he knocked Hatton out people believe he's a some sort of demigod. Not spoken to one person yet who sides with Pacquiao. Plus the polls on ESB are 75-80% in Floyd's Favour
WHAT!??? I bet you still haven't seen the official Mayweather-Pacquiao poll on boxingforum24 right,,... Search the thread!!!
http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=529475 This thread? Ok definitely not one sided, but Floyd still seems the favorite.
Everyones picking Pacquiao to win since majority of people want to see Floyd lose. It has nothing to do with skills, it has everything to do with people on how the view Floyd. Floyd is the villain and Pacquiao is the savior that suppose to come and put an end to Mayweather. Pacquiao is reborn again christian, likable person, down to earth, and very well liked in the Media. Mayweather is ignorant, Flamboyant, big headed, *******, women beater, etc etc etc. (you get the point). Majority of the casual fans and people can stand someone like Floyd and want to see him lose no matter who skillful he is.
46% picked Pacquiao to win,,... 52.5% picked Mayweather,,... If that isn't close,, I don't know what it is,,...
To be fair the majority of those people thought Hatton was a good fighter which he certainly wasn`t. I dont know who you are speaking to. I can only guess they are football fans with only a slight passing interest in boxing hence their stupid disbelief that Mayweather knocked out a limited plodder like Hatton after being given hell for 8 rounds. The people who I speak to who are boxing fans cannot split Mayweather and Pacquiao but have no doubt if the fight took place 5 years ago like it should have then Pacquiao would have won.
so why has Nacho predicted a Pacquiao win? he later qualified by saying he has a 45% chance but he obviously feels good about Pac's chances. as far Pac's punching, go watch the Rios vs Pac fight not oo long ago, you will see punches from every angles, lightning speed with hands and feet skills that will drive Floyd absolutely insane.
You laid out a concise argument for why you feel Manny will beat Floyd. I disagree with you but I can respect your opinion. :good
My thing is this - compare them as they are TODAY...thats who we get on fight night. Floyd has fought Guerrero, Canelo, Maidana....all slow as dirt. Very basic fighters..none of them have no big wins on their record and have lost ugly in their defeats. Canelo was weight drained to death. Manny has slowed, but has defeated Tim Bradley - a very versatile champ who's defeated all sorts of styles. Algieri was young, quick, a mover, and a counter puncher with a nice jab. Even Rios with his caveman skills was an iron jawed puncher....and pac's power made him earmuff and afraid to throw. Floyd struggling with and running from Maidana has made me lose serious confidence in him... i mean even devon and khan spanked that. Manny has tested himself against much better competition lately. You're not living in the real world unless your are comparing the fighters as they are NOW
Im not sure whos going to win but im pulling for Pac. Anyone that thinks pac is going to get schooled by floyd is dreaming and they are going to have a rude awakening on May 2nd. Win or lose floyd is going to get hit and hit hard. I can tell half of you dont know what your talking about because of the way your saying manny needs to throw punches for 3 minutes, get floyd on the ropes, work his body etc. All nonsense! If manny goes in there firing away hoping to wear floyd down, steal rounds or catch him with something and knock him out hes going to get schooled! Floyd will deflect a lot of that let manny wear out and then proceed to put on an absolutel clinic for the last half of the fight and manny will get embarrassed! Ive watched a ton of videos on both these fighters in the last month and ive come to the conclusion that manny is going to beat floyd and likely stop him in 5 or 6 rounds. Ive seen vulnerabilities in floyds defense especially vs southpaws that can be taken advantage of. Sure floyd can train to try to work on these but these flaws are just ingrained in floyds style and are going to be very difficult habits to break. Imho the closest thing to how this fight will likely play out is Floyd/Corley. If you watch that fight Corley who isnt the quickest guy in the world. Doesnt have much of a punch and good but not great or quick footwork was beating floyd to the punch with some hard shots. Hard shots that floyd simply can not take from pac and last long. Those of you that claim you know the sport dont just criticize my post go watch the fight and give me the breakdown of why Corley was so successful and what lead to his demise. And then tell me why manny can do what corley could not.
good points above. People aren't quite ****yzing things carefully. The problem is that the ZERO in Floyd's record gets too much attention at the expense of a realistic ****ysis. The zero definitely deserves admiration but a more in depth and objective ****ysis is required than just 'Floyd too big, Floyd has never lost, Floyd this and that etc...' First reality is that Floyd has been hurt and has been troubled. Castillo and Maidana troubled floyd. Mosely and Judah hurt Floyd; a past his prime DLH almost beat Floyd. Reality also is that Manny is significantly more skilled and overall better fighter than any of these guys and more importantly, arguably a worst match up. Reality also is that Floyd hasn't faced any great opponent, he has lacked great rivals. I mean, his last opponents are kinda jokes - Ortiz (nobody), Maidana (limited fighter), Guerrero (destroyed by Thurman), list goes on. Many years ago, who? hatton? Corrales? ok, all tough but nothing compared to rivals Hagler, Leanard, Duran, Ali had to deal with. Arguably the toughest fighter Floyd has ever faced is Canelo and who is canelo? What has he done? tough fighter indeed but nothing of a great. reality also is that Manny has looked better in the last 2 years. Manny looked amazing vs Rios (i bet Rios vs Maidana is a war), beat Bradley rather comfortably and dominated algieri. These guys all have different styled too.. Floyd did nothing great vs Canelo but avoid getting hit and didn't look great against Maidana. So Manny has arguably looked better against tougher and more varied competition. Floyd simply looked far from his best vs Maidana and nothing impressive vs Canelo. So this big ZERO is fooling everyone, Manny could very well go in there and win decisively, i mean like a rout. It's possible.
