I believe that was B-Hop's greatest performance by far. From his game plan to his demeanor. Focused. Never looked tired even after he TKO'd Tito and calmly celebrated his victory by laying on the canvas. One of the best soundbites from the fight was right before the final round when B-Hop asked his corner, "How I look?" Brother Naazim, who was the 2nd asst at the time responded, "How you look?! SOLDIER, DO WHAT YOU DO!" Classic. Was a bit annoyed by Big George's commentary swinging on, in and around Tito's nutz the whole fight, but he did say that he had to eat his words at the end. Masterful performance by X.
You made his point genius Tito was nothing but a bloated out of shape WW in that fight. Im Puerto Rican and was and always will be a Tito fan but i knew he was going to get Obliterated in that fight. I honestly was surprised he went 11 rounds. He had no business fight the great Bhop and to an even greater point had no business fighting above 154lbs. The Roy Jones fight was an absolute embarrassment.
The fact that tito dismantled joppy the way he did proves that he brought his power up in weight. He was very much a legitimate MW
That was the fight that ended Don King's reign over boxing. He put all his eggs into the Tito basket. The MW tournament was just supposed to be a Tito coronation. It also brought a dark time into boxing where promoters were scared to death to make real fights. If it happened to King it could happen to anyone. Floyd is kind of a byproduct of this era. It was a great victory but it also ushered in a very dark time in boxing as well.
No business fighting B-Hop? To unify all three middleweight titles and become the first undisputed middleweight champ since the Marvelous One? Ok, I got it... No excuses, manito...
That's a great an.alysis. Never thought of it on that fashion but I suppose there could be some truth to it.
I'm a big BHOP fan and personally his move up to LHW was my favorite part of his career. Tarver-Wright-Pavlik-Pascal-Cloud-Shumenov and still being top 5 LHW at 50 the guy is a walking, talking, fighting, boxing legend.
George was all over Tito's thing the whole fight. Only gave Hop credit when he had too. Like koing Tito.
