A Pacquiao style might find holes in Floyd's shoulder roll

Typical ***** thinks that Floyd is so great basics of boxing dont apply to him.

 

Because *****s actually think that basics of boxing dont apply to Floyd. They will talk about how Paquiao lunges in with the left a lot but then when someone points out that Floyd lunges in with his right a lot they will say 'yeah well Floyd practices that'.

 

This is exactly what I don't get about these fl0m0s.
Why this is not blatantly obvious to them is beyond me.
They kept saying Floyd will connect with left hooks every time Pac lunges in but fail to see that the same thing will happen when Floyd lunges in with his jabs (which he does a lot, btw).

And this is Manny f*cking Pacquiao.
That right hook has stunned, floored, disfigured and retired countless certified iron chinned warriors before from Morales to Margarito.
It's not like FMJ is up against some slow poke like Maidana or Ortiz again.

Amongst southpaws Adonis Stevenson is easily the best at going to the body. You could say that he is the expert when it comes to attacking the body when open stanced(orthedox vs. southpaw). His preferred attack? The straight left. Why? So he doesn't get countered with the lead left hook.

 

Pac's style won't find holes in Floyd's shoulder role - because Mayweather adopts a higher guard against Southpaws. I think Floyd is going to find a home for that right hand lead all night. If by chance Floyd does adopt a shoulder roll in close, Pac could catch him with a crude left uppercut - I believe that is his only chance. I think people underestimate how wrong Maidana's style is for Floyd, and now think Floyd is shot. He is far from IMO. This guy is still a warrior.

 

The shoulder roll will probably not be a factor, since Floyd hardly even uses it against southpaws. One place he sometimes does revert to it is when he's pushed to the ropes, but he usually only does it for a second before he tries to turn out to one side.

When Floyd fights southpaws, he throws an inordinate amount of lead right hands. Like, again and again and again. Once they start landing regularly he opens up with some more variety, but from the opening bell that's what he looks to do. Just get that straight right landing. It's the equivalent of a jab when fighting a southpaw...everything works once you get it landing.

Pacquiao needs to do what Guerrero did, only add a little more power, speed, timing, and knowledge of distance. Guerrero was slamming his left hand to the body every time Floyd shot the right, and it was clearly working. It would have been nice to see him try that left uppercut to the head as well. If Pacquiao finds a way to shut that right hand down (which Guerrero laid a bueprint for despite being a poor excuse for a fighter compared to Pacquiao)...then Floyd will be in serious trouble. It would prevent Floyd from leading off, which is what he is most comfortable doing against southpaws.

Why?

Because Floyd has an automated defensive style which he has DRILLED into his brain against ORTHODOX fighters. Why do you think he has so much trouble with fighters who break the textbook mold? Maidana and Castillo found success by tossing the book out the window.

Floyd hates awkward. Southpaws are awkward. High-volume southpaws (ie not Guerrero, Judah, and Ortiz) are EXTREMELY awkward.

Floyd prefers the offensive against southpaws because his defense is unreliable against them and it's safest for him to get off first. If Pacquiao counters the right hand effectively, which Guerrero demonstrated is possible, he can force Floyd onto the defensive and open up all kinds of holes in his defense. If you see Floyd on the ropes rolling shots, that will be because Pacquiao has overwhelmed him. Floyd is happy to do that against Cotto and Maidana because his defense is drilled to work against an orthodox fighter off the ropes. He won't let himself get stuck on the ropes against Pacquiao if he can help it. If he does, he'll get hammered.

 

Mayweather often abandons the shoulder roll in favor of the high guard when he faces southpaws.

 

Floyd can take a punch, Pac can't. This amateur outlook I hope motivates you Pac fans to unite, and talk about the shoulder roll more, but come May 2nd...you'll all find out what Floyd does best and that's WIN!

This is how and why Pac got stopped by Marquez! Why because he and his foolish trainer thought that Marquez lacked the power to hurt Pac, and we saw the results. If pac, Roach and his Fans go into the Floyd fight with the same mind set, then Pac deserves to get laid out again!!

Fighting in close will eliminate the advantage of a south paw stance. pac on the other hand despite his shorter stature has not proven to well on the inside.

An inside fight will also eliminate any speed advantage enter fighter will have !

Its clear from this video floyd over stretched himself to land a body punch was was pushed over by light punch by Zab.. But of course Pac fans will look for anything to celebrate.
