Wlad easily by KO. 15 kg heavier, a super heavyweight against some guy who would be a Cruiser today. Ali shorter, way shorter reach, no punching power compared to Wlad. This would be a massacer but you guys still live in the past, you can't deal with the fact that the likes of Wladimir, Kovalev or GGG would beat the likes of Ali, Toney or RJJ easily.
you must mean another wlad not the one who has to pick unconditioned fatboys and middling dwarves for defences in case he gets wiped out in seconds again by a retied guy who never got near a title shot when prime. let me know who this other wlad is.
If we're talking about Prime Ali, he'd make a Wlad look like a fool. (Can't believe Wlad is winning the poll LMFAO atsch)
Or so you must be an idiot too, if I'm an idiot because I couldn't vote for draw. Typical BerolGee pwnes himself.
Ali was a great fighter not a great boxer. Technically very very unsound. As Foreman said 'once he lost his quickness it became obvious that he had never learned defense.' I think Wald employs the same game plan Futch set for Norton and wins a pretty convincing decision.
Ali had flaws in his game(didn't go to the body at all, etc). But that doesn't matter. His strengths were enough to overcome those flaws. And in his prime, 64-67, they were overwhelmingly enough to overcome those flaws. I think either version of Ali beats Wlad, but Prime Ali makes him look silly before stopping him late. Wlad is a powerful puncher with good technique and vastly above the current(and sad) HW crop, but matched up against prime Ali he would be made to look slow and robotic. Ali would make him miss and unlike most opponents Wlad has faced, Ali is actually fast enough to beat Wlad on the outside, so Wlad's typical jab and grab gameplan would be ineffective. Even if Wlad tags Ali some, he's proven that he has the chin to take it. Ali frustrates, counters, and stops Wlad late in a one-sided fight.
