You mental anthropod! :rofl K2 has done a great job promoting a non-english speaking boxer from the birthplace of Borat. What on earth could they have done differently? Please speak up and enlighten us!
TopRank sent that contract to K2 and GGG signed it and sent it back to collect dust. I doubt that fight happens now that Chavez Jr ran away and signed with Haymon. Don't expect to see a Haymon fighter at any weight in the ring with GGG unless it is a mandatory.
Totally agree with the thread maker. GGG is a natural MW. He should stay there and unify and keep breaking records.
But who is Chavez Jr going to fight? Lets suppose he wins against Fonfara - what is next? Kovalev? no deal. Jr would die. Hopkins? slightly possible. Canelo at 168? Froch in the UK? Canelo at 168 in the summer of 2016. if Jr can make 168 by then. There is simply nobody else that would generate enough cash. As I said earlier - GGG has 10% chance of landing that fight.
thats not much of a sober or intelligent career management for him... the problem here is - Ward for last? well...case one.will they want to end his career with some big money scraaps?. Ward has no followers today...let alone 2019 if his career is going as it is. case two.will they go for legacy defining fights? again, who is Ward in 2019 if things are going as they are right now....
This isn't right, Golovkin is a big MW, 13 lbs overnight is a lot, and Rubio is not a small MW, infact, he'd be a decent sized LHW... He can't even make 160'. :rofl Golovkin-Ward at 168' is fair, Ward enters the ring at 176 lbs yet people think he should be fighting 190 lbs Kova and Adonis? Golovkin is a 173 lbs MW, with a little added mass on the move to 68' he'd probably be bigger than Ward on the night. There's 3 lbs between MW Golovkin and SMW Ward. There's 12-14 lbs between Ward and the top LHW's.
Correct :good. And that is why Ward is more or less stuck at SMW. So there is no rush for GGG to fight him. He will be there in 2019 and will hopefully have built himself up again by then.
Ward for last! :deal With the pace GGG has been setting - between 3 and 4 fights per year - means that Ward is between 12 and 15 fights away. That is plenty of fights to earn dollars, gather belts, increase lore and build the Ward fight. Fighting Ward in 2015 risks the whole scenario. just forget it. :tong
Calling out Cotto?? lol. Why is that be impressive? Everybody wants to fight the Welter weight Cotto who became MW Champ by fluke. He didn't even make a good 154 pounder. Got shut out by the best guy he foght there and wants no part of the best guy there now. GGG could kill Cotto. It will never happen and why would you even want to watch it? If GGG had oppenents at MW , it would be a different story, but he doesn't. There is nobody there. Its a terrible division. When he fights for the vacant WBC belt , that will be 3 belts he won without ever fighting the Champ to win it. There is planty of champs up at 168 he can challenge but he wants none of it and thats what i don't like. Roy Jones didn't chase belts. He chased achievements. The belts GGG holds ain't worth the paper there written on. The k2 business model is rack up defences against anybody and everybody so they can claim they are better than former greats:tired
Good point actually, also, I'm all for Golovkin to reign at 160' until, naturally, he can't make the weight anymore. :good
Its funny how you say he had problems with Murray:nut He was such a non problem , they already had GGGs next fight ready to go.
