At least De Gale will have beaten a legit Champion. What champ has GGG beaten for the 2 belts he holds? The IBF belt has no champ. The WBC belt will have no champ since Cotto will vacate. GGG- King of vacant and paper belts.
Geale was the WBA champ, he vacated to fight Mundine. Cotto is the WBC champ, if he vacates to fight someone else, it's hardly Golovkin's fault. N'Dam v Lemieux is for the IBF strap, both guys say they want to fight Golovkin.
He's only trying to fight Welters. Guys that are out of his reach and near the end of their careers. He can get the top guys at 168. There is no doubt about that.
Youre trolling now You know Dinamita is my boy but i got massive respect for Gennady as he stands for everything that is right about boxing So why the hate? Drop this ridiculous hate campaign or i won't let you into the next TE awards ceremony
Hagler stayed a middleweight his whole career and his best wins are fighters at their peak at lower weights and he's a god here. I don't think hagler is that good though. He's very good, just overrated I think.
There was no 168 division in Hagler's day. It came in around the end of his career. And Hagler had a plethora of top fighters available to him. GGG doesn't
It makes plenty of sense more of the top guys are willing to fight him at 168 than at 160. That alone is a good enough reason to move up.:deal
Dropping down to 155 would be fine so long as it were against title holders or top 10 LMWs like Martirosyan, Andrade, Canelo, Cotto, Lara, Bundrage etc. Hell, at this point, even meeting Molina at 155 would improve his resume as Molina is a 2 time titlist and has fought the best in boxing. GGG would have little trouble making 155 CWs, whereas moving N to 168 would force him to add muscle making it nearly impossible to make the big fights at 160 when the Canelo's and Quillins, Jacobs, etc grow the ***** to make the fights. :nono
winner of Quillin & Lee, Ndam & Lemieux, Heiland & Tureano Johnson (talk of that fight being made), Khytrov is gaining recognition, Korobov will get back in the mix, Murata, Eubanks, Jacobs & Saunders are on the rise.... there's plenty for him to do at middleweight. he wants all the belts. he'll eventually get all the belts. Andre Ward isn't worth the trouble of moving up yet. Chavez & Froch would be. 154 is also senseless for him unless it's a major superfight, ala Canelo, Pac or Floyd.
Yeah, all of which came UP to fight him. And Hagler retired at what, 33, he could have gone on a couple yrs and made the SMW division a more notable division lending creedance too it earlier on. And it's not like the $$$$ woulda been less. He was a money fighter. He simply stayed at 160 til he couldnt compete with the 140lbrs who were coming up to fight him.
So was Marvin supposed to look into his crystal ball and foresee the creation of the 168lb division? :huh
Aye, that crystal ball is in fact a television. That Mr. Triple G is going to have hell to pay for wrecking your perception like this. You used to be such a sharp lad. My confidential source (which is only available to those who Google "Super Middleweight Boxing Wikipedia" and click "list of super-middleweight boxing champions") indicates that the very organization's belt that Marvin had since the beginning of his reign, the WBA, had its inaugural 168 pound title fight March 28, 1984. Mr. Hagler proceeded to have 5 bouts after that date.
