Mayweather has all the shots, it is just whether he chooses to use them.
I think we'll see Floyd jab a lot in this fight. I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk Pacquiao down either.

I'm not arguing this, Algieri didn't have any business in the ring with Pacquiao. To tap and run was Algieri's only chance at winning, but no one expected him to win.

You do realize that Pacquaio is one of the best counterpunchers in the game?

In fact, you could make an argument that Pacquaio is the best counterpuncher in the game when his opponents go right at him.

They get the beating of their lives.

Mayweather is a great counterpuncher, but he rarely puts anything on his shots.

The biggest lie Pacs fans tell themselves is that Floyd will run.

Floyd will be right there in front of Pac. He isn't running anywhere.

I don't think he'll use the lead hook tbh. I think he's gonna fight most of this fight behind a high guard and either counter with a check hook, or force an ugly inside fight. Those are 3 positions where he will be safe against PAC. If he leads with his hook, he's in danger of catching a straight left and that could be disastrous.

I disagree that a high guard is safe against Pac.

The only way to avoid being hit by Pac is to take the Mosley route.

Exactly. Pac isn't fighting another big slow guy, he's fighting a long fast ww who has the best defense in the world. Pac's in trouble.

The high guard, combined with Floyds footwork(speed) will confuse PAC and frustrate him. PAC won't have a clear target. To get through the high guard, you have to throw combinations at it (Floyds footwork, either step IN to crowd, or OUT to counter hook) or you have to punch around it (which will force Pac to reach from the outside, again opening him up to a pull counter from Floyd)

Just my opinion. But this style, is the one I see giving Pac trouble. Maybe not beating him but troubling and frustrating him. Pac won't know when he's gonna get rushed, or when Floyd will pull and pivot away. He'll fall into chasing him one moment, then being crowded the next, without a clear target in between.

A normal person has to throw combinations, but Pac will use angles and footwork.

If Floyd uses the high guard he'll be made to look like a confused statue when Pac takes an angle on him, and then we'll see Mayweather's face get contorted in ways we're not used to.

Also, Pac has a great deal of success splitting the guard with his straight left.

And remember, Mayweather is reluctant to throw when his opponent is punching at him. If Pac doubles the jab when Mayweather leans forward, he can duck duck and follow it with left straight and catch Floyd hard with a counter.

But I'm a Pac fan, so hopefully you're right. I want Mayweather to use that style because I think Pac will have a field day with it, but I feel like Mayweather will abandon it after he realizes his set ups aren't working and then when he doesn't move his feet enough, Pac finds that angel and makes his face turn.

Def good points with the angles. This fight confuses the **** out of me, I go back and forth on it all the time.

He still has his jab, check left hook, and all other tools at his disposal, including roughing up Pac on the inside.

Bradley pretty much defeated and frustrated JMM through his jab + getting out of range and bobbing and weaving.
Can definitely see FMJ doing the same to Pac if it comes down to that.

    Algieri has decent boxing ability.
He may not be on Mayweather's nor Pacquiao's level but he is a LW champion FFS.
And "made PAC look like easy pickings for the right" is a bold statement to make when Algieri got dropped repeatedly while using that right of his.

Yep they are both counter punchers. Floyd let's you throw and then counters. Manny feints and counters as you throw.

The biggest difference between them however is that guys will throw with Mayweather for 12 rounds. With Manny by the 6th round most opponents are scared ****less and have stopped fighting all together.

Said it before, and I will say it again.

Floyds Jab to the body will be his most effective punch. It will set up a range of other attacks.
