dealt with has no idea what it's like to train an athlete as old as Mayweather. There are methods that work with younger guys, but don't work with older guys. Or I should say, younger guys can get away with more than older guys. At this point in Mayweather's career, it's dangerous to add a significant amount of strength training, because it demand more oxygen from him, and it will make him easier to hit as the round progress. Will it add power? Perhaps, but at what cost? Is Mayweather willing to stand in there and go to war? After the first few rounds, he'll have to if he's not successful with his game plan. He'll get hit more than he's ever been hit before. Unfortunately for Mayweather, it may be his only chance. Since, he's going this route, it will be his only chance, and you are going to see a complete failure. Mayweather is going to receive the worst beating of his career. If he has enough heart, he could be victorious, but this is uncharted territory for him. There is always give and take. Anyone who tells you that you can have it all is lying to you.
I agree. If Mayweather's plan is to be stronger and win a punch-out with Manny, he's done already. Bad strategy.
I just cannot understand why they would introduce this into a 38yr old fighters regimen... At this point in a fighters career changes are generally made to his conditioning program - less long runs, less sparing, 6wk camps. It's almost unheard of for S&C to be ramped up and made such a focal point of camp. There is only so much you can put on the body of a 38yr old prize fighter....before he leaves everything in the gym. Marquez bought into it fully because he knew the only shot he had to win was to land a MASSIVE punch and KTFO. Has Mayweather arrived at this same conclusion? Also this is experimental stuff from Ariza - Pacquiao NEVER went under a bar bell for a squat, deadlift, or bench. Aria was probably given a full training regime from Memo (all these heavy compound lifts are direct from the memo playbook - i.e. Marquez/Pascal) seems desperate.
Im going to make this really simple for the simpletons who know nothing about S and C: Firstly Mayweather has started lifting, as PART of his training plan, which will be 99% what he's always done, as it always works. Mayweather has every single box ticked as regards ring smarts, reflex, speed of movement, speed of thought, technique, defence, punch variety, stamina. The one area where he could use improvement, is explosive punch power, so he's started doing the things which will improve that. Its no different to him hiring the best chef around, he's making improvements where its possible to do so, and at his level, those are very few. He'll slaughter Pac, that is a given IMO.
Really, my club head speed dramatically improved and I hit the ball much further as I got stronger and bulked up. Pretty sure tiger gets his distance due to his strength from his lifting. Strength is power, and improving your fast twitch fibers can improve speed to point. That said, I think lifting in boxing has to be specifically for that sport as aramini pointed out to me in his post earlier in this thread.
people are stupid if they think floyd will change his style in this fight. Remember he HAS stood in the pocket with big punchers before... maybe not the greatest fighters but big punchers for sure. This is something people don't see about floyd who haven't seen his fights from years ago... Having said that, floyd will fight whichever way he figures out works within the first few rounds. this whole argument about weights vs no weights is silly. Somebody above mentioned squats deadlifts etc... but iv seen nothing that floyd is doing this as part of his regimen? link, video? Having said that, there's a reason as said above ALL other sports incorporate weight lifting. Lifting, done specifically to each sport will make you stronger & faster & you don't necessarily put on tonnes of size....
You mean to say that technology can change your mind from being a lazy undisciplined fatass? Lmao, that's gold :rofl Keep posting this kind of **** please, i dare you
