The thing is Charlie Z is unaffected by fear until he gets hit and hurt, at that point he turns into a petrified little girl. However, before then he's as brave as anyone of his size and build I've ever seen. He turned up to fight Wilder for goodness sake! lol
Jones-Hopkins II was the same way Hopkins once again used the awful tactics to spoil a fight and it was an embarrassment. Roy should have hit him low to prove a point since Hopkins faked low blows in that fight also. When fighters fight like John Ruiz I find it hard to even score rounds either way it is just a mess. I remember watching Ruiz vs Rahman and I literally crumpled up my piece of paper I was scoring the fight on after about the 4th round the fight was such a mess :rofl
You're right, I have to give him credit.. Though once he has been owned, he is forever afraid.. The toothless, flabby, Kid Thunder Hartley beat him once, and Charlie Z chickened out of a rematch only to sucker punch Hartley while he was putting his pants back on.:rofl Did you see him sucker punch Mayweather Sr after getting destroyed by the old man? The Mayweather posse were all over him. I can't believe he showed up for Wilder, it was hilarious he actually took a shot without going unconscious, though Wilder was wearing two right handed gloves I think.
That body shot that Roy landed that had Hopkins rolling around on the canvas was a borderline low blow in my opinion... I would have loved to see the ref start counting, I bet he would have jumped up real quick.
The Hartley fight was hilarious. Yeah, him sucker punching Sr. was crazy too. Him actually showing up to fight Wilder was beyond crazy though. A 30-0 (30 KOs) 6'7'' 225 lb pro HW who is considered one of the most devastating punchers in the sport vs a rail-thin puny 155 lb mental case who can't fight for toffee. lol
I would probably get banned if I posted it and am not sure if you have seen it, but on youtube, "Charlie Zellenoff loses fight and suffers beatdown" is a hilarious video. He gets beat on pretty good, while retreating out of the ring and around the whole gym.
Yeah, I've seen that one before. That guy was just a horrible bully though. He's lucky Charlie hadn't been training for months otherwise he would've been sparked out cold on the canvas like a dead fish. :deal
I think its funny after most of his beatdowns Charlie says he is still the best, sometimes as he is running off.
Get the feeling you, Serge, Loudon and the other regulars on here are the types who would try and help Charlie, and try and eep him out of trouble. He calls me from time to time, its a shame theres no medical support in place for him over there Having said that, he's an absolute legend :smoke
I certainly would have tried to talk him out of going anywhere near Wilder. Charlie actually seems like a guy I could sit down and have a beer with, but I would be constantly on watch as he would probably be staring down anyone that walked through the door. I am a really chilled out person, and consider any kind of violence a last resort, so you are right, I probably would try and help the guy.:yep
He is mentally ill. I thought it was all just a big act and he was just a really good troll at first but he's clearly suffering from some kind of delusional disorder. You can see he's not all there just from the dopey drugged out dead dog look in his eyes, never mind all the crazy things he's said and done.
I was thinking the same thing too, but as time went on I could really tell something wasn't right in his head. Joking aside I do feel bad for the guy.
