Question: Do you think he has a chance to beat Floyd Mayweather on May 2?

David Diaz: "Yes. Yes, I think he does. I think he can fight Floyd's style better than Floyd can fight against his style. Floyd's fought Judah, Mosley, Hatton, Oscar. Manny's also fought the bigger, tougher guys. I think it will be harder for Mayweather to adapt to Manny's style. I honestly feel he has the ability to fight and to beat Floyd. I'm going with Pac Man. I think he has the extra speed to beat Floyd."

    Some interesting quotes from interview:

Question: What are the standout memories of the fight, looking back seven years ago?

David Diaz: "His speed was unbelievable. It was something I never experienced before in my career. Even though I fought Zab Judah in the amateurs, Pacquiao's speed was unreal. So it was his speed and unbelievable talent."

Question: What was the first punch of the fight that stunned you?

David Diaz: "His jab. I was like, Oh wait, I didn't see that. I knew we were in for a tough fight. I wanted the fight to be a war, he wanted to box. It was what it was in that fight. I wanted to slug and make it a rough fight. He wouldn't engage, he would punch and get out. He did it to a tee. He stuck with his game-plan. I got out of mine."

Question: What makes him so special?

David Diaz: "I think his ability to move, his speed. And his awkwardness is also a talent. That in itself is a talent. What also makes him special is the kind of person he is outside of the ring. He talks with everybody, he extends an open hand to everybody. He's a very good person overall."

Well, that was 6 years ago...

But Diaz is right; it's PBF who will have to adjust his style.
And that by itself is an advantage for Pac, especially if the fight gets into the latter stages, where you always endup doing what you've always done.

Haha reminds me of mannys qoute before the Algieri fight, " [the opponents] can say the speed is okay...because they haven't experienced it. But when the fight comes, he [Algieri] will know."

That speed is impossible to prepare for. Especially when each throw being a power punch.

Many people say fighting Pacquiao is like a a sudden flash of yellow and then you're hurting. You don't really know what just happened from the speed. It'll be so interesting during the fight if Mayweather will be able to "see" everything Pac's opponents couldn't see before him.

I wouldn't go so far as too say that Marquez adapted to Pac's speed. He took 3 shots for every one he landed on Pac. He just hit harder. Look at his face in round 6 of fight IV, it was beaten up pretty bad. Floyd is going to have to be willing to take some punishment and have KO power if you want to compare him to Marquez.

Guzman lets himself be outworked and gets lazy. He wouldn't have done a damn thing to Manny. Guzman especially would have been easy work for Manny. Beating Barrios, Soto, and a bad showing against Funeka do not make for someone Pacquiao should be criticized for not fighting ... I can't believe his name is still brought up in this context.

At 130 pounds i see a prime focused guzman beating pacquiao. At 130 pounds and at 135 pounds pac never fought a fighter with slick quick skills like guzman before. Arum knows this which is why right away after guzman beat soto said pac wont fight a fighter that just wont trade.

David Diaz is Mollasses slow, on the speed level of Margarito, I can see where a fighter as slow as that and who has gotten in the ring with Pacquiao would think Pacquiao would have a chance vs Mayweather.

Mark what I'm about to say. Mayweather is'nt going to give Pacquiao the opportunity to show his speed. Mayweather's quickness to get off is going to negate and stop Pacquiao from unleaching speed, which means Pacquiao wont be throwing in combination.
Pacquiao will be reverted to throwing one two's and I doubt many will land cleanly.

Will PBF negate Pac's foot speed also ?
How is he going to do that ?
