Saad was one of my boyhood idols....the man was a vision to watch. the ultimate warrior. He gave everything in the ring in one amazing performance after the next.

Let's show some love for the late great Matthew Saad Muhammad currently lying in an unmarked grave. I'm gonna give....please make sure you do too.

Judging by his name, I'm guessing he was a Muslim

Under Islam, idolatry is a sin, so most muslim graves are either unmarked, or at least marked but no shiny or eye catching headstone

The late Saudi king was also buried in an unmarked grave for that same reason.

"judging by his name"?...you mean you never heard his name before...hmmm.

yes, he was a follower of the nation of islam. not all islamic sects follow the same traditions.

other prominent NOI members have their graves marked by a gravestone.

Saad was one of the most exciting fighters ever.

Similar to Gatti, but a much higher caliber of fighter.

Given that Saad experienced financial hardship throughout the majority of his post-retirement years, including a period of time spent on the streets, I highly doubt that the lack of commemoration wasn't a conscious decision on his part.

Even if he was an adherent to Muslim tradition, I feel his legacy should be noted in some capacity. A headstone seems as good a way to do so as any.

Muslims dont really have elaborate head stones or grave markings. At least in accordance to traditionalist teachings.
