If Miguel Cotto couldn't beat Mayweather, Pacquaio can't.

Mayweather only tends to have trouble with opponents with a size and strength advantage, great jab, great at cutting off the ring, and a smothering come forward style. Miguel Cotto was a stylistic nightmare for Mayweather. Physically bigger, stronger, strong jab, great body puncher, likes to smother opponents. Pacquaio doesn't have as many advantages. He is smaller, doesn't have a great jab, is not stronger, not as good at cutting off the ring. Thoughts?

What? how does this even close to make sense? Thats like saying if Cotto couldn't beat Manny then Floyd can't

Styles make fights. Cotto possesses nearly all of the attributes that would give Mayweather's style of fighting trouble. In my view, if anyone had a chance, it would have been someone with Cotto's style. Anyone without the attributes mentioned above (size advantage, strength advantage, great jab, poor ring cutting ability etc) doesn't have much of a chance.

I think Pacquiao will be more troublesome than Cotto was due to his foot speed, southpaw stance, angles and punch output.

No. Not the same. Cotto does not possess a stylstic advantage over Pacquiao. I'm saying that, if a person who possesses a significant stylistic advantage over Mayweather cannot beat him, that doesn't bode well for Pacquaio's chances.

I think the traits mentioned above have given Mayweather more trouble. Look at all of the opponents who have given Mayweather problems in the past.

Read the thread title. Mayweather did beat him, but it certainly wasn't a walk in the park.

It doesn't seem like that was the OP's point. I think his point is that stylistically Cotto has more attributes than Pacquiao that you need to beat a guy like Mayweather.

Cotto has an excellent jab, something Pac does not possess. And you're not beating Mayweather without a jab, sorry. I agree on this premise: Cotto is a tougher style match up for Mayweather than Pacquiao. Just IMO.
