    2007

    Welterweight 147lbs
(not including mayweather because he retired)
    1. Antonio Margarito
    2. Miguel Cotto
    3. Paul Williams
    4. Shane Mosley
    5. Joshua Clottey
    6. Zab Judah
    7. Kermot Cintron

as you can clearly see Floyd never fought the guys who mattered he instead retired when at the most challenging point in his career by him going of for 2 years he let the top dogs beat each other up and he knew that he could come back and still avoid a few.

One thing to mention here is this was around the time pac was making his accent by 2009 pac took the thrown Floyd then continued to avoid him fighting guys like Ortiz, and the ghost

    2010
    Welterweight 147lbs
    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Floyd Mayweather
    3. Miguel cotto
    4. shane mosley
    5. Joshua clottey

So when people like me point to him cherry picking its because its the truth he has simply not fought the best available opponents at the right time.

he fought guys like hatton, ortiz, baldy at ww sorry this is not acceptable

No he hasn't. His whole resume is bunch of hot air.
I mean beating a past prime Manny would be his BEST win, this is sad.

i see alot of TR fighters. he might not have fought the best at a given time but he fought the best available. shane mosley was shot ? yeh sorry bud he was coming off the destruction ko win over marg who was clearly a good win seeing as you people keep saying he was that good floyd avoided him

and even if he was shot, he had his chance to fight floyd. floyd called him out multiple times both he and delahoya avoided him (tooth ache lol) if mayweather said exactly what mosley said in that post fight presser you would have literally crucified him

When do those rankings take place because I'm positive in 2007 Mayweather fought the #1 rated JMW Champ and the P4P/#1 rated JWW Champ. both of which were more accomplished fighter's at that point. this was after defeating the #1 rated Undisputed WW champ and the #2/3 rated former Undisputed WW Champ in 2006. In 2010 I'm pretty sure he fought the P4P#3/#1 rated WW Mosley who didn't drop until after Mayweather beat him.

so to review between 2006-7 Mayweather fought and beat the #1WW, #2WW, #1JMW, & #1JWW. that seems like taking on the best but I don't know.

Maybe if you listed the 2008 rankings when he was retired you'd have a better argument.

You'd think people would realize that the only reason some of these guy's even had a high ranking is because Mayweather beat the guy's ahead of them then retired effectively leaving the top 3 spot vacant for someone to fill.

He missed out on Margarito and Williams...But Margo only reached the number one after defeating Cotto in 2008, and lost it to Mosley. Williams split a couple of fights with Quintana, and then moved up to 154lbs.

Williams is probably the fight I wish Mayweather would have taken, to be honest. But he never really put himself into a position where the fight had to be made.

and on the flipside of that coin, a past prime Floyd would be Manny's BEST win as well. you guys go out of your way to discredit Floyd's resume. such a waste of time really

The funny thing about all these arguments about whether floyd ducked these guys; or floyd didn`t duck anyone, he`s TBE....etc etc etc...is that really they`re just euphemisms for the real argument "fighter A would have beaten fighter B."

So with that in mind lets deal with a couple of hard truths for everyone.

Truth #1, Cheating Margo vs Floyd would have been a 50:50 fight. Paul vs Floyd would have been a 60:40 fight in favor of Williams. That's just how it is. And if you think otherwise then either you are lying to yourself or YDKSAB...
    - In the end Margo turned out to be a cheating bum. So although lots of people were ****ed at the time that that fight never went down. In hind sight I'm glad it didn't. The Paul Williams fight on the other hand is one I wish we would have gotten. Every other great of my time has been in at least one or two fights were a majority of knowledgeable boxing fans and pundits think he is going to lose. Floyd vs Paul would have been just that kind of fight. But we never got to see it. I'm not overly ****ed about that. But as much as I respect Floyd`s skill you have to admit that simply due to this fact its a legitimate position to be less excited about Floyd Mayweather or his record when compared to other HOFers over the past 25 years (i.e. Hopkins, Jones, Whitaker, Holyfield etc...).

Truth #2, quoting boxing politics or who was fighting who and at what time, is not a legitimate excuse for a fight not happening. All that stuff is just moves on a chessboard. If fighter A would have beaten fighter B but they never even ended up in the same area code....that is all you need to know.

Truth #3, all that being said it is never A-side's fault that he never fought B-side. It is always B-side's fault. Anything else and you're just kidding yourself. Boxing is a business first and foremost. All fights are made based off a risk reward calculation. If you are a guy like Paul Williams and almost every boxing insider thinks you'd probably beat the reigning money man in your division then it is on you to go out there an make that fight happen. Floyd bought his contract out from Top Rank and turned himself into a PPV star in order to get the DLH fight and Ali dogged out Liston until the public called for their fight. Boxing has loads of examples of lesser known guys forcing fights to happen or building up there brand and fan base to a point where they can challenge A-sides. So when Paul Williams, in an interview earlier this year, says he was never ducked, he's right. But if you asked him if he could have done more to make those fights, I'm sure he'd say he could have.

I'm a Floyd fan, and a Pacquiao fan. I will admit I like Floyd more and see him winning. With that said boxing as it is is all about politcs. They fight the best fights that make business since. Maximum dollors blanced by risk. Guys like mayweather, Pacquiao both do this. They are the top of the heap popularity wise and have more to lose.

It's all smoke and mirrors, they sell you a guy who doesn't have a chance of winning. But make you believe he can win. Rios, Algirer, of Pacquiao's most resent fights. You have Guerrero, Maidana and canelo from mayweather's side. Of mays side Guerrero was his mandatory, and the people demanded canelo. Maidana eared his fight by beating up baby Floyd, and deserved a well earned rematch.

I could make a case Floyd gave us the fights people wanted to see. But who really wanted to see rios and Algieri two fighters who were at 140 before moving up to face Pacquiao.

that option was signed before the loss. And Floyd, in his next fight beat Baldomir
