WBC Officially Orders Stevenson-Kovalev Title Fight

    The WBC has initiated the free negotiations period for the mandatory title defense between WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev, with a purse offer date of April 17, 2015, in case there is no agreement between the parties


    Now this is kind of stupid since Stevenson has a fight coming up with Bika, and Kovalev has an IBF Mandatory with Nadjib Mohammedi

    Bika isn't to be taken lightly, I know most likely he'll lose but he's a tough, awkward guy, it wouldn't absolutely shock me if he managed to get an upset victory.

    Kovalev paid WBC 45k to fight for the Diamond belt, a belt that doesn't even exist, money grabbing scumbags :-(

    Diamond? Didn't Sergio hold that one when the WBC gifted Chavez Jr with the regular one?

    I'm not saying it's legit, just that.. it exists. :D

    diamonds belt exist but theyre not supposed to be winnable like pascal was a titlist or something

    Nah, he's the one claiming he wants that fight, it's on the Quebec ESPN anyway (rds.ca)... he's not fooling any hardcore fan, but he's probably got the casuals falling for it.

    I have a feeling Stevenson wont be happy about something and drop the belt.

    I think Kovalev will then fight for the vacant title making the winner the unified WBA IBF WBO WBC champ or even be awarded the title.

    I think Stevenson will fight someone else and you will have some claim that he is the champ because a magazine says so.

    Hope they do meet to make a unified LHW champ.

    It reminds me of when Michalczewski was WBO WBA IBF champ like Kovalev is and later Dariusz also beat the fighter who had been wrongly stripped of the WBC title
