Why Has Nonito Donaire Dropped Out of the Mix?!?!

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by ( ° °), Mar 27, 2015.

  1. Donaire was schooled by Rigo, but Rigo is from another planet. He lost to Walters because he was outsized and Walters throws seriously heavy bombs.

Donaire still wipes the floor w/ the likes of Mares, Russell Jr., Santa Cruz, Frampton, Quigg... and MAYBE Lomachenko.

Maybe because since 2011 Donaire has only fought in one gear?
    Where is this guy?

He used to box his opponents, now all he does is throw big power shots.
    Hes one dimensional.

And he wont be wiping the floor with nobody of note. Look how he struggled with Darchinyan, Mathebula and Vazques Jr.

Rigo took his soul. He looked ordinary in his fights since.
He needs to get his confidence back and do what he does best.

  6. What? He looked good in the Walters fight. He just succumbed to pressure and power.

Donaire hasn't been very active and doesn't look to be interested in further resuming his career anyway.

I agree with squiggle face. I love Donaire. Until the man loses to someone who isn't a monster and wouldn't eat everyone else in the division alive I'm still rooting for him. Fights with Mares, Lomachenko, and Russell Jr are still viable in my eyes.

I've always thought that Donaire was overrated but I agree

He looked not too bad in the Walter fight before getting blasted out

He could still make some noise

Kept trying to go through too many weights. Had he stayed at 118lbs he'd have been neigh on untouchable. He weight in at 122lbs today and looked like there was more weight he could shift without any problems at all.

tru dat, its such a shame when such a beautiful boxer falls in love with his speed and power.

But regardless he had a great career, being a 4 division champion ain't no joke.

    :good

Donaire climbed to the top at 122 during his fighter of the year campaign.
    Fernando Montiel at 118
    Vic the **** at 112

I only feel that at FW he missed out because his win over Vetyeka was not without controversy. If only they had a rematch. :-(

Why do people claim that Donaire is overrated? What is overrated about him? Each weight class he moved up to, he consistently took on the long reigning number 1 champion, knocking them all out.

Darch was the man at Flyweight before Donaire knocked him out, Montiel was the man at Bantamweight, Nishioka at Super Bantam and Vetyeka at FW. If only he fought Navarez at Super Fly, he'd be the lineal champ in 5 weight classes.

Donaire has had a legendary HOF possibly ATG career and should be proud about it.
