Mostly early in his career but a scattering of tuneups all throughout here and there even once he started regularly facing elites. Just random Euros (mostly French guys, and some Portuguese) with nothing beyond regional tourney success on their ledger. Still, though, he blew the non-elites away like he was superhuman and even dominated some world champions. That list wasn't even complete. :yep Other notable victims include Robin van Roosmalen (current Glory lightweight champion), Vitali Gurkov (has a ridiculous trophy shelf), Khem Fairtex (has a hundred more wins than losses), Cosmo Alexandre (tough Brazilian, also competes in MMA and boxing where he is 2-0) Davit Kiria (former Glory lightweight champ, has victories over Ristie and Khem Fairtex)...like I said, insane résumé.
Petrosyan is an UNBELIEVABLE technician. Precision doesn't come close to describing it... Ristie KO'ing him sent shockwaves through the sport. But as we found out, Ristie is a seriously top notch fighter. No shame there, but it wasn't expected at all. Risite definitely had other plans that night! Buakaw will always be my favourite. He was just this SAVAGE living in the mud huts/jungle, who trained with the bare basics (reminds me of Fedor in that aspect), but he was a K-I-L-L-E-R! I mean, they changed the rules due to him dominating! Say's it all really... Masato was epic on his day as well (check his fights with Buakaw). The David Beckham/Playboy of the sport. But boy could he fight! What I loved about was that he his Boxing was VERY VERY good for a Kickboxer. That man had it all - the fame, the looks and the skills. Total package. Zambidis was entertaining as well. Dude was a killer!
No, he just trained like an old school fighter. No fancy gym, programmes, trainers etc. Just real old school. And due to him dominating the Japs, they wanted their own as the stars - hence why they changed the rules. :good
Watching Petrosyan-Kraus, and so far in the first round, Petrosyan has landed almost all of the clean blows.
I try to follow Kickboxing and Muay Thai as best I can. I wish K-1 would show some fights on "free tv"...also BF24 needs a better notification system so you can follow threads more and easier.
Ive been watching the glory cards recently. Are these the top fighters? Or are these tournaments somewhat gimmicky like a prizefighter tourny?
