Hahah. So true. I think this is a pretty deep question. Pacquiao is not a better fighter now than he was before the knock out. However, that has a lot to do with age, and being in the twilight of his career, as well. I think he IS better suited mentally now for his body's capabilities due to that wake up call. He has more patience, he doesn't stay inside for as long, he doesn't take as many risks. He still has a lot of the old Pac though, I think he's just much wiser on how he spends his gas. If he'd continue to fight today like he did 5 years ago, he'd find himself in trouble more often. Especially against Mayweather.

 

Manny still makes the same mistakes. Watch the first 5 rounds of the Algeri fight and see how many right hands landed on him. The difference is Bradley came out in the second fight and tried to for some odd reason, KO Manny which is the totally wrong gameplan for Bradley. The Chris Algeri fight is self explanatory. He's just not a high caliber fighter to use as a measuring stick of Manny getting better or not. We'll have to wait May 2nd to see if Manny has truly gotten better or not.

 

He's not as reckless but a lot of his mistakes such as the dropping of the left hand when throwing a right hook are still there.

Neither PAC or Floyd are prime both fighters aren't shot either but they are faded.

He was a better fighter before and it showed.

He's been knocked on his ass and stopped cold by a blown up featherweight in Marquez. He was lifted off his feet and clobbered by a career LWW in Bradley, whose hands are as feathery as Foghorn Leghorn's.

Prior to that, he was walking through big WWs like Cotto, Clottey, Shane, and Margarito. He took a depressed, coked up Hatton's head off in there and beat an old, drained Oscar into a permanent suit and tie. He was relentless in there.

He's not a natural thinker in the ring. And if that is the game plan, Floyd will take him to school.

There is a reason why Maidana had so much success in the first fight. He was a complete animal in there. Kicking, biting, farting. Whatever it took, he was willing to do.

 

From a technical standpoint I think he is but that might work against him in the mayweather fight. can't see him out thinking/boxing floyd.

 

Old Manny was high risk high reward...it's just that he was so good it was 99% of the time high reward. Nowadays he takes less risks but has very little chance of being caught...in that way I think he's harder to beat this way in a sense.

 

pac is not the same fighter he is running on reserves

 

he is more well rounded definitely and more of a boxer, but overall he is not better
