okay, he has skills. He's pretty fast, smart and has good technique. Here's the problem, he has never faced great opponents.

Would've Ali been considered as great without Frazier and Foreman?

Would've Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Hagler be considered greats without each other?

Sugar ray robinson lost a bunch of times, still one of the greats given he faced so many good fighters

Floyd bieng undefeated is something we should commend him for but who has he faced? I know some will say 'he's just made great fighters look ordinary' but it's not true?

look at the last opponents he has faced - Maidana *2, Canelo (hasn't accomplished SQUAT), 3. Guerrero (annihilated by Thurman) 4. Ortiz (who?).

Then earlier in his career - Cotto, JMM. Castillo, Corrales, Ghatti, Hatton..

Arguably his greatest opponents have been 1. Cotto 2. JMM 3. DLH 4. Mosely

DLH and Mosely were clearly past their prime with Mosely being 38 and DLH being past his prime by about 5+ years. Mosely still was able to rock Mayweather in 2nd round, what would've a 28 year Mosely done? past his prime DLH almost beat Floyd, what would've a much younger DLH done?

It's not a given Floyd could've handled prime Mosely or prime DLH. In fact, it's doubtful IMO.

then we have JMM and Cotto. JMM went up two weight divisions to fight Floyd and he's not an all time great IMO. Cotto is tough, no doubt, but not a all time great.

so Floyd simply hasn't faced any great rivals, not his fault but fact. The 0 is great but that's not all there is. Bradley and Algieri were undefeated until recently weren't they? Sure Floyd had faced better opponents but not great ones. Floyd has been a master marketing himself as the TBE but it's all style and less substance. WHO HAS HE BEATEN that's great?

Floyd is one of the best but when i hear people talk about him as if he's TBE or top 5, top 10, i don't see it. He is a master promoter who has great skills but hasn't done enough to be considered top 10 great. I would rank rank him somewhere in top 20-15.

come May 2nd, Pac may prove to you all that Floyd was actually overhyped.

Yes, Floyd will go down as one of the greatest. I believe Pacquiao will also rank very highly. I don't believe you'll see boxers as good as them for a very long time.

He has been on the pfp list for the past 18 years. What do you think that makes him.

Maybe that was a little personal, I mean no offense. Its just that when you make a thread of this caliber expect a stupid response.

As for your question, imo an All Time Great is an exclusive club of the top 100, maybe even just the top 50 fighters to ever live. Mayweather and Pac are both in this group.

After this select group you have hall of famers and the like, anyones guess as to how many members but it will be a few hundred id imagine.

Then yo uhave a exclusive group in its own right of people who have been great enough to become a world champion which is to a degree an endless list.

Contenders and journeymen follow, and no matter which category these guys deserve our utmost respect for making the sport what it is.

Leave the resume off.....its a bit jaded fluffed up a bit.....dont use it to prove that its a great all time resume....

  13. NO. Pacquio DESTROYS his opponents. Mayweather does nothing near destroying them.

saying a thread is stupid without explaining why is stupid itself...

just because you are a floyd fan doesn;t mean you need to resort to childish insults and posts that have no substance.

do you disagree that Floyd hasn't faced great opposition? explain why not

wonder why Wlad is not respected that much? he has no great opponents. In Floyd's case, it;s not that bad but if you carefully ****yze his resume you'll even ask yourself 'who here is great'

He's nothing like Toney, Duran, Hagler, McCallum, Chavez, Whitaker, Monzon or Spinks, or even Erik Morales.

His fights are rare occasions against big names (rarely near their peak), more like events. He's never fought the biggest challenges like Tszyu or Margarito or Williams or Witter or Bradley or Brook, at their natural weights etc, consecutively. Hatton and Cotto in 05 instead of Gatti and Mitchell, etc.
