I'm not sure I pick Charles over Tunney.

Resume is the body of work you have achieved in your chosen profession. For a boxer it means which"names" are on your victim list, and just as importantly which" names "defeated you. Neither Carpentier or Levinsky have 175lb names on their victim list to compare with Charles and Maxim resume..
Have you noticed that nearly everyone here has Charles number one or thereabouts and no one has either Carpentier or Levinsky in the frame in fact, aside from you no one has mentioned them does this tell you something ? Because it should. Accusing me of bias due to nationalities is as ridiculous as the rest of your points.
If Bilbao beats Madrid it indicates that on the night they were the better team ,or they would have lost instead of won wouldn't they?
I'm pulling the plug on this because you really have nothing to say. Or at least nothing that I am interested in hearing.

I always find it strange that noone ever mentions Greb in these discussions. I am sure he beat a ton of great fighters at or around the weight.

Langford is another interesting one head to head he would have been one of the greatest. Yet, i am not sure if he even had a fight at the weight, much less beat some decent competition. I still think he should be thereabouts.

For what it is worth, Tommy Burns and Bob Fitzsimmons are the only two light heavyweights to ever win a world heavyweight championship fight. That has to be worth something. It is afterall the no 1 prize in the game and every other great light heavy had to actually go up in weight to achieve the status.

You're wasting your brain matter, McVey. Arguing the absurd and blinding himself to any facts that don't support his narrative is what this guy does. He once tried to convince me that Laszlo Papp was a greater and more accomplished fighter than Sam Langford, using his AMATEUR career as the basis for his argument. Have a look at his "logic":

Pretty much all you need to know.

Those are the facts. Completely inarguable from every sane angle.

He's the only professional to have beaten Gene Tunney.

Good point. Although Tunney did avenge that loss more than once.

Actually, you could make a case for Greb being 3-2 vs. Tunney. He got blatantly robbed in their 2nd fight and looks to have gotten the better of Gene in their Cleveland bout as well :smoke

Harry Greb most likely the most remarkable fighter that ever lived was truly a middleweight up until he died. Of course Greb weighed more than 160 pounds going against bigger lightheavyweights and HWs. Why shouldn't he indulge himself some culinary foods and little or no gym workouts when he was fighting every 2 weeks or so against heavier men with no weight limitations .? But be reminded when his MW title was at stake, Greb always made the 160 pound MW limit until he was past his peak against the likes of
a prime Mickey Walker and the awkward fast punching southpaw Tiger Flowers twice just before he died in 1926, weighing in at below 160 pounds..
A footnote: I have read that the great Billy Conn's mother was such a fan of Harry Greb that she requested that she be buried near Greb's resting place...
