I saw Carl take a horrific beating

    Watch round 6 again

That was one of the most horrific beatings ive ever seen

Yet The Cobra refused to go out to this young punk

The stoppage was premature fo shoe

But the punishment Carl took in that fight was horrendous.... the fact that he actually agreed to a rematch after that shows he's one of the bravest most guttsiest fighters we will ever see

Groves had the upper hand up until round 9.

He looked in serious trouble but the stoppage was as British as they come. he might have recovered and beaten Froch anyway but we'll never know. :conf
Not really something for him to complain about now, because Foster's decision made him a rich boy eventually.

watch after 8:20, and see the punch in exactly at 8:38.

Groves was relatively in control until then, but at 8:38 his disaster happened. You simply cannot afford to receive such an obvious(to the point of being silly) power punch as a professional boxer. That's the punch that knocked him out.

He was still inexperienced in that fight and got caught up in the punch trade forgetting all basics. Froch beat him with experience and nothing else.

As for the stoppage, even though it looked premature, Groves had completely lost it and was constantly receiving power punches above the neck. As Kovalev adequately put it after the Pascal fight, "sometimes the ref needs to save a fighter from his own courage". It's better to lose a fight than living your life with a handicap that could easily be avoided.

    boom ko 1

    we have a winner

been saying this from the first fight

groves body language in the ninth was worrying sagging slowing legs looking shaky taking heavy shots , people seem to forget there was still nine championship minutes of boxing left
but the groves fan boys cried and whinged calling for carl to retire so them very fans got their wish and its backed fired big time , imo valuable time off groves career imo #carefulwhatyouwishfor

It was an awesome fight, this generations Benn/Eubank 1 but with a controversial ending. The amount of punishment Froch took was incredible, especially in the 6th, I've never seen anyone take flush power shots in combinations with so little effect that he was throwing back while eating shots.

The ending was premature, Groves was definitely hurt but should have been given more time to recover. With hindsight and having seen the one punch KO of Groves in the rematch had it continued I'm almost certain Froch would have stopped him.

    Premature stoppage

He was hurt, but was still swinging, still moving, albeit looking shaky

But he hadnt received a bad beating up to this point / hadnt been dropped so warranted being able to go a bit longer to see if he could weather the storm

I remember it not being long after the Abdulsulomov fight and actually being worried about Froch in the first half of the fight.
Groves couldnt seem to miss at times.

    Hes a tough cookie though

Groves won the first 7 rounds clearly and therefore had technically won the fight.

In the ninth round he was wobbled and was in trouble I feel the stoppage was premature but concede that froch may have stopped groves anyway shortly afterwards.

Groves should have been given at least 1 more minute in there I've seen boxers in more trouble who were allowed time to regroup.

Howard foster is a fat roll who should look over his shoulder because a lot of people in the UK hate him.

    Cracking fight.

    Definitely a premature stoppage.

Difficult to predict how it would have ended without Foster's untimely intervention. Groves had shown the ability to recuperate and come back from adversity (Anderson) so even though Froch was coming on strong it was all up for grabs.

The rematch settled matters though. No uncertainty there.

This fight confirmed Froch as the Ultimate Warrior

    He took horrific punishment

But George could have hit him with a sledgehammer that night - Carl would have gone nowhere

If Froch GGG gets made, what a brutal fight that would be

Id rather Froch retired and raised his son. He's given us more than enough wars

    Astonishing warrior, massive respect
