nice, missed this one. I think he can do a lot of what Trout had success with, but with a bit more on his punches.
I totally agree. It is a high risk low reward and risky fight. I hope he is ready. the size will be an issue but I am sure they will figure out a strategy. I look forward to it!
It may end up looking like Cotto Margarito as well. Only Heiland is a little more skilled and may hit harder than Tony.
:nod The only thing Heiland lacks is Margarito's work rate and chin. (but that is offset by the fact that he's a naturally much larger man so the punches of blown-up 140lber Cotto, even the renewed spiteful puncher that Cotto seems to again be now under Roach, might not trouble him too much - and his work rate is probably still enough to give Cotto a headache..)
So the consensus is that this guy is no cherry pick? Is he a better fighter than, lets say. . . A john duddy? Alexander?
I think Heiland beats him. Cotto is trying to find a credible opponent that he feels he can beat easy enough, might be underestimating him slightly.
It's a very risky fight. The guy was walking right through Macklin's shots. Hell, Macklin landed a peach, and the guy didn't fall. I think he has a hell of a chin. Also, he's EXTREMELY strong. Golovkin got it wrong when he said Murray was strong. I've seen Murray getting pushed around in the clinch by Martinez with a bum knee. He was also getting eaten alive in the clinch by Sergey Khomitsky. Murray just doesn't look like a strong fighter to me, but he is big. This guy Heiland is big and strong, very strong. Now, I don't think Heiland is a match for Golovkin, but I think he's a better fighter than Murray. Only issue is that I only saw his fight with Macklin. I know nothing of him outside of that fight. Cotto better take him serious, and he better go to the body. Only time I saw Heiland getting folded a bit was by Macklin's body shots. I think he may be packing that Argentinean glass body.
:blood Why on earth would you ever put the names John Duddy and Devon Alexander together? Aside from being human males, speaking English and boxing professionally I can't think of anything they have in common. ..and for whom did either serve as "cherry picks"? :huh Anyway, no. Heiland isn't a big name but he's a dangerous task for Cotto.
