...And is in absolutely no position to equal or exceed Louis or Holmes. Louis and Holmes were LINEAL champions and defended the LINEAL title. Wlad didn't gain that distinction until his win over Povetkin.

Stop with the Mickey Mouse BS...

Holmes wasn't Lineal until he beat Ali in 1980. So you can remove 7 title defenses from him. Agree?

Wladimir beat Chris Byrd, whom many considered the nr 1 heavyweight, to claim the number one spot. Wladimir has been at the top of the division since then but i somewhat agree.

Wladimir beat the nr 1 contender Chagaev in 2009. That would make about 10 defenses.

Overall he has faced 4 number 1 contenders. Chagaev, Haye, Povetkin and Pulev.

Holmes was never lineal, Ali lost his lineage when he retired. Holmes never faced his #2, Dokes. This means Spinks was never lineal either. Tyson was never lineal. Nobody was ever lineal. The whole lineage is broken until Holyfield vs Lewis II.

So Hopkins becoming the oldest champ ever has no meaning to you then?
At 46 he claimed the lineal belt but because he only held the WBC and Ring belts youd say there was no real meaning in that victory?

    They were all jokers.

Tyson didn't become lineal until he beat Spinks, wich means he had only 2 succesful defences before he got KTFO by Douglas. Lewis managed to make it 6 (going 5-0-1, 2KO's) until Rahman spanked him. Bowe dropped his WBC belt and only made it 2 succesful defences against frickin' worn out Dokes and journeyman Furguson, until Holy regained is belt...
Do I need to go on? Bunch of ****ers, all of them! :bart

    More morons to be ignored.
More and more folks are starting to fear that Wlad soon will be the longest reigning champion and with most defences ....
You probably pee in your pants when someone mention Wlad name. Im so sorry for you ....

What does then-WBA-paper-champ Povetkin have to do with the lineal title?

Lewis was lineal champion before he ended his career.

Vitali Klitschko may have been considered as some kind of lineal champion as he gave Lewis a hell of a fight and beat Corrie Sanders.

Rahman/Barrett-Maskaev-Peter-comeback.V.Klitschko ... they don't matter for the lineal championship.

Haye>Valuev>Ruiz ... Klitschko unified with the WBA beltholder
Chagaev>Valuev>Ruiz ... Klitschko beat the other WBA title holder
Non of them was some kind of lineal champion or whatever

Byrd surely wasn't a lineal champion.

Brewster may have been considered as the #1 in the heavyweight devision in 2005 as he had beaten Klitschko and rushed over Golota (who gave Ruiz and Byrd a lot more trouble).
Ibragimov>Briggs>Lyakhovych>Brewster ... Klitschko unified with the WBO title in 2008

to be the man, you have to beat "the man"

I consider Klitschko "the man" in heavyweight since 2008 ... or at least since 2011 (when he beat Haye).

Povetkin? What have he done to be important for the lineal championship? He beat Chagaev in a close fight who was dominated by Klitschko.

Why? That's just a title. Arreola and Stiverne ... both were not in the Top5 of the heavyweight devision when they fought for that belt.

You can consider Cotto as the lineal champion (beat Martinez who beat Pavlik who beat Taylor who beat Hopkins) although he just has one belt.

That's some fine research, Cisco. Damn fine.

Unfortunately, it's cold comfort to the legions of innocent fans who've suffered dramatic long-term consequences as a result of Mr. Klitschko's winning streak. His refusal to lose, "victims be damned" attitude has a high human cost just for the sake of his shiny belts, actress wife, and millions in earnings.

He doesn't give a damn about the thousands of internet posts displaying firsthand the emotional and psychological damage he's done...Mr. Klitschko lacks even having the common courtesy to meet the victims.

He may think teaching African children to read makes up for it, but what's going to happen when those poor children are then able to read all the posts showing how Wlad's wrecked so many lives? What the hell kind of charity is this? It's a cruel joke is what it is.

We've got to help these fans out on a grassroots level while we continue our pursuit of bringing this tyrant to justice.

Only Kiltschko fanboys would have rated Chagaev over V Klitschko, so no, Chageav was NOT the #1 contender. Wlad was the #1 contender with Vitali being #2...
