I like Ali's movement and hand speed to take this.
Stylistically and physically, I think Lewis is possibly next to Ali as the most problematical head to head for any other heavy to meet.

Lewis would beat ali by early KO. Lewis would walk him down in round 2 and smash him into the corner.

I prefer the facts. McCall destroyed Lewis in the second round easily.
Nobody could knock a healthy Ali out.
The round 2 Lewis ko win is far away from the reality. So bad idea...

Hard pick but I think when you look at their styles Ali has the advantage. While Ali didn't have the one punch KO power like McCall and Rahman to stop Lewis he did have the superior jab and we've seen Lewis struggle with guys with good jabs like Bruno, Mercer and Vitali. Ali is also far faster and more agile than anyone else Lewis has fought and has a chin good enough to go the distance, which means Lewis has to out point Ali.

Can Lewis out point Ali? Probably not, he'd be forced to chase the quicker Ali, who would dart in and out while landing his flashy combo's. Lewis' tendency to lean back from punches would see him in the line of fire for Ali's straight shots. Ali was susceptible to the left hook based on being dropped by Cooper and Frazier and Lewis is known for his right hand and upper cut not his left hook.

So Ali likely wins a decision, though a competitive one. Lewis' size and strength will give Ali issues but not enough to win.

This is an easy one. Seen all the fights of both men, and Ali in his prime is nearest the Cleveland williams fight, there is no one in history who would have beaten that version of Ali and absolutely not Lennox Lewis. An even much easier win for Ali would have been against the K brothers :)

would be very similar to Ali vs Wepner & Ali vs Terrell.. Lewis is vastly overrated on these boxing forums, because most posters were are simply not old enough to remember the Muhammad Ali & Mike Tyson era's.

I think most folks in classic are old enough to remember both era's I know I am, and I don't think Lewis is over rated. I just think they have a different opinion than yours.

I'm not sure of your age, but I'm older than Lewis is, and old enough to have watched the trilla in Manila with it happened. I remember all the hype around Tyson and I too was on the band wagon for a couple of years. But once people found out he wasn't indestructible he went from unbeatable to merely extremely hard to beat.

Lewis is a lock for top ten all time heavyweight and, for me around no 6. Joe Louis was champ when I was born.

Deep down, it's academic that Lennox's left hook breaks many hearts in this fight....but, more importantly, it's crucial for coping purposes to allow Ali to be unbeaten in fantasy fights.

I therefore vote for Ali late KO. Not because it's the outcome this forum wants; because it's the outcome it needs

When you practically puke when one of these two fighters is mentioned and can't even spell his name, do you really think you have a meanfully opinion?

This is a very common reaction when innocent fans suffer at the hands of boxers winning too much.

It's especially common when the prospect of Mr. Ali losing, which is a massive trigger, is mentioned.

That's why I'm picking him by KO, and why I will continue to do so over every heavyweight since him. It doesn't matter what I believe. What matters is what fans can take, and they've been through enough. I'm not here to argue; I'm here to help.

Mr. Ali must win. He just has to. It doesn't matter who the other man is. That's the only thing many fans traumatized by modern boxers selfish enough to keep winning have left as solace.

The value of that can't be overstated, and we've taken great measures to ensure that standing doesn't get desecrated. For example, we've used a man he defeated, Mr. Liston, as a buffer. We've orchestrated a scenario where nobody else ever has better than a coin flip chance of defeating Mr. Liston, only we take another 25% of those odds and shift them to Mr. Liston, as well. If someone somehow gets past that, good luck getting to the man who dominated him.

The entire thing is quite bulletproof, I assure you.

    Mr. Ali KO9.
