His handlers are too overprotective with him. Its pretty sad.

Here's a list with decent opponents for Joshua:

    Chisora
    Thompson
    Artur Szpilka
    Ruiz Jr
    Arreola
    Chagaev
    Charr

One of these fighter could've been available and eager to fight Joshua, no doubt.

Joshua is still a baby in Heavyweight terms and come to the sport late winning an Olympic gold after only a few years of boxing. He has emersed himself in the sport and history and is soaking it all in like a big sponge. This guy will dominate the sport for many years to come so there is no rush. Why ruin his development?

Did you see his amateur fights? He was TERRIBLE. He is definitely improving all the time in the pros.

    Chagaev would probably KO Joshua

He is made for the pros but the guy who posted this thread should realise its only in his last few fights that he has shown some spite in his punches and been clinical. He is getting better but only a moron would suggest putting him in with Chisora right now.

Keep British prospects away from Tony Thompson!

Chagaev might be asking too much.

Arreola and Charr sound about ideal for his next fight.

    Oh lord.

40+ Tony T doesn't mess around with overhyped and unproven fighters. He reaffirms that those words applied to them.

would be a silly fight for Joshua at this point in his career, Chagaev has lots of experience and is very tough, meaning he could take Joshua into deep water before he is ready

he should keep busy this year and if he does well consider taking on those types of guys at the end of the year.

IIRC Chagaev looked like trash in his last fight.

Not to sound like a revisionist because he deserved his rankings over the years and credit but I always felt Chag achieved more than his actual skills would've allowed (yes, kind of an idiotic and oxymoron statement, I know).

Joshua is going to milk the bum victories for as long as possible. Hearns knows it that is why he is protecting him.

Why not protect a really young Heavyweight? What are the alternatives? sign him to Don King and let him go by the Tyson route? Heavyweights mature in there 30's. this guy will be champ in his 20's and dominate if he stays grounded.

is he? I know he's fighting KJ on 30/5/ at o2, didn't know Thompson was lined up but that's not a bad 13th fight.

think they'll get him in against chisora before the end of the year.

I think he may be confusing Thompson with Johnson, if not then thatll be a great fight for AJ in his 13th fight, Thompson has a high ranking again after beating Solis for the 2nd time.
