What is Froch's best win?

Yeah, Bute was over hyped and should have already had a stoppage loss on his record but he was still no mug and a World class fighter. I expected Froch to beat him but never thought he would just walk through him the way he did, I doubt many others did either.

 

bute was a great win but as weve seen he was a hype job, id say groves 2 all the pressure was on him after the first fight and he came an controlled the fight from the first bell and ended it in spectacular style

Dirrell probably because he lost it. To win a fight you lost is quite a remarkable achievement

Taylor - first defence away from home in the US against a top class opponent and pulling out a last round like that is as good as it gets despite what the haters say.
Bute - demolition of the supposed bad man ko artist.
Groves II - the perfect ko in the most high pressure night in British boxing for 20 years.

 

You could make a case for any one of several fights being his best win.

Bute was very highly rated prior to the Froch demolition, the fact that he had Johnson shelled up like a tortoise for the whole fight is a good indication of how heavy handed he was. Ward was obviously concerned about Bute as he decided to renege on an earlier promise. Many predicted a tough night for Froch, and some well respected boxing bigwigs said he could be the first man to KO Froch. Another who became a nobody overnight after losing to Froch.

Taylor is still an impressive win even if it was at a weight above his peak. Contrary to the popular " lucky last round punch " Froch had started to take control of the fight from the 6th round. Another big name who only became poor at the weight after the Froch KO.

Groves was being spoken about like the next big thing at 168, as soon as Froch decapitated him he became a hypejob.

Still puzzled as to how he can be considered overrated when his only losse's are to P4P # 2 and a lazy loss to Kessler in a fight that could of been different had Froch decided to fight instead of pose and posture.

 

I wanted to say Kessler 2, but I can't on the basis Kessler was past his best.

Taylor is an option, but again I think he was well past his best too.

Bute? Over-rated.

Groves II? Maybe, but again I think Groves is over-rated.

On that basis I'll go for Abraham. Oh, hang on, he is over....

See, I still don't think Froch has had a real career defining win. He is always disappointing in some way or form. He has never truly delivered in the way someone who claims the supremacy he does should be. How can you give a 'best' win when all you're really talking about are fights he should have won with relative ease anyway. Kessler is a warrior, so if I absolutely must nominate a 'best' then I guess it'll have to be the rematch.

Ward owned him by such a margin that it is a huge blemish (I'm not saying Ward isn't top class, he is, but if you're meant to be as good as you claim, then nobody should get beaten that easily).

I just wish Calzaghe had fought him before retirement - because Froch's career would have been over before it really began.

I liked the Taylor fight. Overseas and with all the odds stacked agasint him, including being badly behind on points, Froch pulled a stoppage out from the jaws of defeat in the dying seconds. Incredible Rocky-type stuff.

 

Taylor fight. Showed us so much of what we like about Froch. Needed a knockout in the last round and stopped him with 20 seconds left. Ill never get bored of watching it.

 

For me its a toss up between Taylor and Groves. The real challenge is when you're up against an opponent that you struggle, and both these classy boxer were all wrong for Froch. But I would give it to Groves, down to the severe beatdown he received in the first fight and the sustained physiological warfare that went between it. Despite the first fight and clearly being rattled by all of Groves verbal abuse, he managed to come back in the second better, control the fight and then KO with a lovely punch. He showed true championship spirit in his rivalry with Groves.

 

No no no. Froch was always expected to beat Groves. Froch was a relative unknown against a then p4p fighter in his own back yard. Froch came of age and jumped out of JC's shadow that night..! Taylor was his best win.

 

Taylor fight, it was his big showcase stateside, down on the cards, put on his **** by a punch he didn't even see, and to pull that finish out of his **** with pretty much no time left was class! And showed what heart he has.

Groves 1, I'm guessing froch really struggled to get out of bed for groves, didn't put the road work in or do much homework and those first few rounds were a complete reality check for Carl, for him to last and comeback was amazing, regardless of the early stoppage the ref would've stepped in sooner or later, groves was gone.
