Was there last night for this & a massive well done must go to Blackledge - to say the kid has NO amatuer experience what so ever is nothing less than remarkable. Cameron came with his own aspirations of winning the title, he'd not long since won a British title eliminator & is a live opponent. Luke dealt with him from the off, closing down the space giving him no room to breath & in my book was a wide winner. Question is ... Smith will obviously vacate / be stripped of the British - leaving Fielding to fight for it - is Luke ready for a return against Rocky , as I don't see Cal Smith being made. I think he is, I think if he works as he can / did last night he may just get the nod !
would like to see that. how would you see it going? also what did you think of steve simmons last night? no way he would have just plodded about the ring if he was still trained by you imo. also what did you think about the dundee lad jamie wilson being thrown in at the deep end, attrocious matchmaking imo and cant believe his coach chris mcadam let him go ahead with bout.
I'd strongly fancy David's chance super fit and vastly improving fighter who's desperate to do well, good combination.
If anyone hasn't seen this fight go catch it on youtube, it was a real war, one of my domestic fights so far this year. I think Blackedge came out strong and won the first 3 rounds, but after that it was nip and tuck and what you like. I think sparring with Murray has been the best thing to happen to Luke, see so many similarities
Would fancy a few of the Scottish lads in this fight.. McEwan, Thain and Carslaw would all beat Luke in my eyes. Why don't you try get David against any of them Billy??
Is this real? Carslaw & thain are both light middles aren't they? An Luke is a top of the scales super middle..! Yeh brophy would be a good fight .. As for mcewan , he hasn't done anything in a long time, is he not retired?
Yeh was a good fight all round , Luke did well to nullify anything from cameron - he's had some cracking sparring all round. The likes of bellew , Murray , Paul smith & froch . So he's in the right place. He's away to Russia this week for a few weeks sparring as well so can only improve
My mistake thought the belt was at middleweight. I thought I heard he was moving down after being stopped by fielding. Didn't think Brophy was that heavy
Thain and Carslaw are Light Middleweights mate, not sure they could hold off a Super Middleweight!!! I'd like to see John Thain more active though and would be nice to know when Kris is getting his shot at the British!! Don't know what Craig has done recently to get the shot at Luke Blackledge but it would be good to see David Brophy get a chance, he seems a nice, hard working pro and would give him the chance to step up in opposition and get the chance to fight for a good title too.
Just posted before i saw this but same goes even if it was at Middleweight!! John isn't big enough for Middleweights and imo neither is Kris.
Dave do your homework David is SMW, Thain and Karslaw LMW you need to fight in same weight division, it's the same for Dundee boxers mate
Nah he's still at super middle, has boxed a few times up at LH too (fought for the WBC youth world at LH in Denmark, close points loss to Erik skoglund ) Then he's spent a good bit of time rebuilding at super mid since the fielding fight, picking up a WBC international silver on the way. He originally weighed in over the 12st limit on Friday too, so doubtful he'd ever fancy being down at middle. Him & brophy would be a good match up, wouldn't be surprised to see it soon actually. Maybe even for the British depending on what happens with smith / rocky & cal smith.
