Louis would destroy every heavyweight today, except Wlad. That would be a great fight. I favor Louis to knockout Wlad, but BELIEVE ME Wlad's combination of size, speed, skills, style, jab, power is something Louis never came close to seeing. Wlad would keep Louis on the outside for quite some time and really tattoo Louis with that right hand, before Louis finally finds his opening and knocks down Wlad 3 times in a row before finishing Wlad off with a blistering combo. I wouldn't be surprised if Wlad finishes Louis off first. Wlad's power is devastating in either hand, at 6'6 245lb. By the time Wlad retires, we will be talking about Wlad alongside Louis as one of the top 5 greatest heavyweights of all time. Louis top 2 all time. Wlad is my favorite fighter. I will be sad the day he retires. I look forward to reading a book about him one day on both his life, and the unbelievable stylistic transition he made post 2003 that turned him from a good fighter to an all time great fighter. I think Wlad K kept improving drastically up until about 2007, and then peaked around 2009-2011. He is past his prime here in 2015, but still very dangerous at 39. Louis hit an early peak in 1935 at age 21 against Baer, then finished his peak the night he demolished schmeling in 38. He was still prime up until 1942, although his leg speed had deteriorated. In 46-48 he was past his prime, but still very dangerous as evidence of the incredible Mauriello knockout.
Louis said the Mauriello fight was his last great fight, one where he had power and judgement of distance.
Mc, CORRECT ! If Joe Louis had a counterpart in style and substance it was Arguello for certain. Picture perfect combination punchers who fought by the adage,"waste not, want not". Two of my favorite human beings in or out of boxing...:good
