General fitness: Which atheletes are better conditioned than top boxers?

    why would they need excess cardio?


    It would be a waste of training time.

    there is one incredible aspect regarding tennis, top lvl guys gets 250-300 matches/year...

    also footbal(soccer) in Europes top leagues demands insane fitness / cardio levels.

    wrestling IS HARD ****, we used to do sparring drills where for 30 seconds you would try and muscle your partner..after a few rounds with a bloke that was a lil bigger then me i ended up going outside and spewing like a mad man, big respect for that ****

    This isn't even close, it's cycling. Regardless of the gear they're on (hey lets be frank every top athlete in the world is probably on PEDs), they're extraordinary athletes. Their resting heart rate is so low that most of them sleep with a shocker attached to their heart just in case it stops while in relaxing sleep.

    I second that opinion. Djokovic and Nadal are two of the best athletes I've ever seen. I would also add basketball players. They are extremely strong, athletic and have very good endurance.

    Wrestlers and it's not even close.

    The body has more than one energy system. How long you can last when all these systems are forced to work is what determines overall fitness.

    The question you need to ask yourself is who is best to help me move into 5th story apartment with no elevator?

    The answer to that is the answer to your question.

    Soccer and tennis players? He'll no they will gas the moment you have to move something heavy.

    Don't confuse aerobic stamina with overall fitness. That is only one part.

    Wrestler is a very good shout but your 5th floor example is hilariously non-scientific. I'm pretty sure an Agassi or Nadal would be able to move some furniture.

    It's a very real world example thst tests all the bodies energy systems. You could have similar results in a lab where you to show choose to have subjects carry heavy objects for s long time at high to moderate intensity.

    And no Agassi couldn't. Have you ever even trained with high level stamina athletes. They don't have very good anarobic systems. It's not worth the trade off with aerobic stamina. I've seen quite a few soccer and tennis players quit the intense training when they realize that the added weight is tiring their aerobic system quicker.
