Byrd 2 was not for the lineal, I think Wlad was rated #8 or something at the time. But since he won so easily he should have been rated #2 before the fight. Anyway, being #1 in the division is more important than being lineal IMO. Being lineal does not always mean you are the best in the division.

Reminds me of the recent Gary Russell fight. He beat the #1 ranked guy pretty and wasn't even rated in the top ten just before the fight.

really, a guy like pulev who Is lucky to get past a 40something in order to land a title shot, is not a "hoper".

Now perhaps that kubrat guy was paid to flop in the fight, I don't know but that's the only excuse I can find for a challenger putting in such a horribly inept walk-in-that-punchrepeatedly performance. Pulev didn't even warm up for the fight.
