Examples of Fights Where a Guy Overtrained???

  1. Hard to quantify an intangible such as overtraining... can anyone give an example?

Mosley swears to having over trained against Mayweather (as he was prepping for Berto in January before that was cancelled) and Pacquiao (where he claimed over training hampered his groin injury going in).

    Under trained?

Froch against Kessler. Said he assumed the fight would be postponed a full week ahead because of the volcanic ash around Europe at the time so he just quit his final preparations and wasn't ready mentally, apparently. And then claimed "huh?" when everybody involved was still going ahead with the fight... Jacka$$ of the Year award went to him for that.

During James Kirklands' comeback after prison he was crazy active against tomato cans before continuing the activity against Nobuhiro Ishida. He and past/future trainer Wolfe claimed he was over trained from the constant grind of a year+ in the gym (although they also cited his being somewhat out of shape, so, not sure what to make of it).

Back when Paulie Malignaggi was at the height of his constantly expressing his thoughts on Pacquiao and likely PED use, he made a big deal about citing over training as a reason why Team Pac's explanations of "oh, he just works harder than everyone else all day every day" were questionable. I want to say he cited a fight of his once, but not sure. Probably the tougher-than-should-have-been Ngoudju title defense, if I'm just purely guessing.

Mosley doesn't want to admit he's 40 years old. That's the real problem.

Ishida wasn't even a good puncher but he pasted Kirkland in the first round. I don't think that was over training. I think that was over activity. I think that was like his third fight that month. His noggin was rattled around and hadn't had time to recover. That's sort of what I figured happened to Pacquiao in KTFO6. Marquez doesn't hit like that. Pac had just over sparred and probably picked up a concussion or something in camp which hadn't healed.

As for whoever said Mosley against Floyd and Pac. Mosley was just old and past it. He did fine for the shape he was. He just lost a lot when he moved above lightweight: Forrest, Wright, Cotto, etc.

The one guy I think might have been overtrained is Bermaine Stiverne. If what he says is true and he started peeing away his muscles after the Wilder fight, I don't know what to think.

Malignaggi is just a loud mouth, who doesn't know anything. I wish someone would make a video of him and Teddy Atlas making wrong fight predictions or saying stupid stuff. Maybe, they could attach a highlight reel of Larry Merchant drunkenly slurring his words and slowly trying to p**** simple thoughts as a capper?

But at least he's less of a hypocrite than Floyd Mayweather for claiming Pac could be on PEDS. Just looking at his knockout record, nobody would ever accuse Malignaggi of being on steroids. He's the cleanest man in sports.
