What? No. The lineage is very simple.

Patterson to Liston to Clay/Ali. Ali retires. Frazier picks up the lineal title. Foreman gets it. Ali beats Foreman. Spinks beats Ali. Ali beats Spinks. Holmes beats Ali. Holmes now has the lineal title.

If you say Holmes never had a lineal title, you are taking away a lineal title claim from every guy after Ali's retirement.

Well, if Wlad wanted a rematch with both Sanders and Purrity, then most of the critic towards the bro's seem to come from people to lazy to check things up.

Because the quote specifically mentions he wants to fight Vitali before rematching Wlad as I correctly stated. You didn't think I would produce the quote.

As pointed out, you have not produced this quote.

I do. Your article is from 12/2003. Here is one from 10/2003. Your article is after Sanders already dumped the WBO to accept the WBC's rating and face Vitali. Of course, Wlad is looking elsewhere. Sanders at this time had no contractual obligation to face Wlad and made it clear he wanted to beat Vitali first.

WBO heavyweight champ Corrie Sanders looks definitely set to vacate his belt and pursue new opportunities within the WBC.

    Not lazy. In denial.

It's also just plain common sense. If you pulled off a massive upset and were not contractually obligated to an immediate rematch, of course you are going to pursue other options.
But after years of struggling to earn big money fights, why on earth would Sanders voluntarily fight Wlad again for the WBO title? Sanders had an option, he took it. He pursued Roy Jones and Lennox Lewis, before finally settling for a WBC title match with Vitali. The man specifically said, he would give Wlad his rematch after he beat Vitali first. He didn't beat Vitali, so he retired.

And of course Wlad isn't going to sit on his thumbs and do nothing while he waits for Sanders to get his voluntary fight out of the way, he had time for tune ups and other opportunties, and took them. Wlad coudn't stop Sanders from taking the Vitali fight. And dragging/baiting/begging Sanders out of retirement simply wasn't worth the money or effort when Wlad had no titles and a career to rebuild.

He took one tune up fight while he waited for Sanders to make up his mind. He took a second and started talking about other options like Tua after Sanders gave up the title and agreed to face Vitali.

"Wladimir Klitschko appears to have given up on gaining revenge on Corrie Sanders and has targeted a fight with the equally dangerous David Tua instead. Sanders, of course, smashed the younger Klitschko brother to bits to win that belt back in March but the South African has vacated it to pursue the WBC title"

Wlad had no IMMEDIATE rematch clause to exercise.

Corrie Sanders will be allowed one voluntary defence of the WBO heavyweight title he so easily wrenched from Wladimir Klitschko’s grasp before he is contractually obligated to fight the 1996 Olympic champion once again

You have no proof of any of this. I have Sanders actual words of who he wanted to fight and in what order.

The problem with this angle is, of course, that Toney lost. If you want to prove a fighter is ****, pointing at one of his wins is kind of lame.

Exactly. That fat old out of shape Toney had just held Rahman to a draw. Peter at this point, did much better than Rahman against two common opponents in Oleg and Toney.

The slave contract business as you know was because Sanders was obligated to face WBO Brewster next. Not Wlad or Vitali.

Yet, it appears that Sanders does want to fight, just not Lamon Brewster (mandatory WBO challenger) in Germany on a Universum show.

    http://www.secondsout.com/world-box...anders-ditches-wbo-title-installed-as-wbc-no2

This was after Sanders already agreed to face Vitali in his next fight, what else is Wlad going to say?

Blame the WBO. Tua was mentioned because he was thought to be the WBO #1. Tua was pulled from the ratings after he went inactive from all the promotional nonsense and Wlad became #1 and Brewster #2. So Wlad/Brewster is what eventualy happened for the vacant WBO title as we know.

David Tua was number one in the WBO Monthly Rankings at the time of Sander's victory over Klitschko. He was unavailable to fight for the WBO Heavyweight Title, however, because he was already contracted to face Hasim Rahman in an International Boxing Federation sanctioned elimination bout to be held on March 29, 2003. The winner would then meet IBF Champion Chris Byrd.

To recap: when Corrie Sanders battered Wladimir Klitschko for the title earlier this month, David Tua was ranked WBO No.1. For whatever reason, the new champ was ordered to fight a mandatory within 120 days. However, instead of ordering Sanders to fight Tua, No.2 Lamon Brewster was given the shot. The WBO decided all this without consulting Team Tua and, understandably, the representatives of the No.1 contender petitioned the WBO to wait until their man fought Hasim Rahman on March 29. If Tua won (and thus remained WBO No.1) the WBO could order Sanders vs Tua first thing Monday morning

    Dino,

the reason Sanders dropped the WBO was he tried to secure a unification fight with Glass Jaw Roy Jones which Jones initially agreed to so Sanders and Rodney Berman signed the contract that Murad Muhammad had drawn up and of course Jones then went back and decided not to fight Sanders after everything was agreed to.

Then he was stuck with a choice of having to fight the WBO #1 Brewster for 360k OR having the chance to fight Vitali Klitschko for 980k for the Ring and WBC belts.

Seems like an easy decision to me. Wlad then went on to fight Brewster for the vacant belt and we all know what happened.

Because Wlad didn't enforce his rematch clause. What can you not understand about that?

Sanders was only looking for big money retirement fight. Why in the world would he not want to fight Wlad again , after he destroyed him in mins?
Why would he not want to fight Wlad , but was happy to fight his bigger , better brother:patsch

Universum owned Sanders , just like they owned Chris Byrd after he beat Vitali.

In a reverse situation of Sanders/Wlad , Byrd was forced to face Wlad.

Byrd was not even allowed take a voluntary defense and was made wait while Wlad had 2 fights.

Vitali admitted all this in the Kirk Johnson post fight interview. I suggest you watch it.
