Martinez has been beat everytime he has fought at title level(which is not world level).. Katsidis also lost every single time at championship level(again not world Level) Moses oops I feel like I'm repeating myself. Burns has fought one border line world class opponent in Crawford(He's not fully proven) Burns was destroyed.. Badly.. Frank done well to get him where he did and he will always have that. He will be forgot about in 10 years time

 

Listen Ricky Burns is not an elite level fighter such as Mayweather, Rigondeaux etc but he was a top 5 possibly top 2 or 3 fighter in the world at one point in the super featherweight and lightweight division. To me that makes him a world level operator. Burns has been fantastic for Scottish boxing, the best fighter the country has had in a long long time. Billy deserves credit for that, they jelled well together and that can never been taken away from him. To get Ricky where he got to must have required a lot of dedication. Burns is past his peak now, I hope he will quit boxing when the time is right, sadly not many fighters manage this well.

Burns beat NOBODY at LW who was world class. He will go down as one of the worst LW champions ever.

 

Will be totally exposed against Figueroa. Can't knock Ricky, I reckon he would have exceeded anybody's expectations. His best win was definitely Martinez, Katsidis is a better fighter than Burns but was shot when they fought. Kevin Mitchell is potentially better than Burns but lacked the discipline and it cost him. Ricky has been a bit lucky, he's caught guys when for one reason or another have been 'way' off there best and he has capitalised on it. It's not his fault, he is an example of what can happen if you persevere and stay disciplined. For me, I judge Burns on his fights v Gonzalez, Beltran and Crawford, not world class. A gutsy, limited boxer with a big heart who has achieved way more than likely.

 

I mean he's not elite yet. Just moved into World Class few more big wins makes him Elite.. Some fans are quite fickle here. Just because you win a world title doesn't make you best in the world
