Good, he is still to really break the world stage, done well with Froch and Brook. Built them, in particular Froch, into household names and has managed to sell out Wembley when a few years ago the O2 was seen as a huge venue. This country, he has done just about everything he can to be honest. Yes he can improve his cards but in terms of achievement, there isn't a lot for him to do, other than maybe take someone from 0-0 to a world title. He is the master of building hype, along with Sky they are managing to build and hype their fighters very well, AJ is possibly the best known British fighter, other than maybe Amir Khan, and in terms of pro boxing he hasn't done anything. He utilises social media as well as anyone and he definitely focuses his market more towards the casual fans and he currently has them eating out of the palm of his hands. He could do things better though, getting fighters on international cards would be great to build a name in the US for example, because it just gets their name out there and boosts their ranking even more. His fight nights could be better, the event is great but sometimes the fights can be very uncompetitive which is something I know irritates a lot of people on here. Then there is PPV, which I honestly don't mind at all, if it is a fight night with 3 great fights then I am happy to pay for it or like Bellew vs Cleverly, with the stacked undercard, I am happy to pay for that. However the way that the Bellew vs Cleverly fight panned out, plus Periban and Sjekloca being out of shape or just outclassed, made the card very bad which lead to the criticism. Overall he is doing a good job and he is responsible for the good state that British boxing is in at the minute because neither FW or Hennesey are doing an awful lot for British boxing at the minute in all fairness.
Pains me to say it cos I'm not really into the whole Sky/PPV thing but I think he's doing a good job, especially for the boxers.
I remember going to watch a wazza show at Echo Arena, just before Hearn got the sky deal. It was the one where degale fought Paul smith, i won the tickets and was in the £150 seats, there was no more than 10 people in a 100 seat radius. The atmosphere was awful. Boxing was in the dark ages. Fast forward to now,Hearn has done good stuff in his first few years, hes only getting started too
Better than the last no1 in the country. At least he seems a little bit more trustworthy. In my opinion that is!!
To be honest, apart from the Wembley fight which Groves CREATED he's made some SHOCKING cards filled with utter mismatches. He knows how to con the public and is a deceiving snake. We all know Barry is still running the show, Eddie is just a puppet.
Him and Barry have both done good things for British boxing. Eddie seems to build a real bond with his fighters and cares. That moment he jumped in the ring prematurely when Froch was bashing Bute was priceless. kalle Sauerland seems to be very much like him and hopefully they can work together more and bring the fights we deserve instead of the mess boxing promoters are in in the states.
