As a Duran fan I used to want to believe that fight was close. But it wasn't. No such thing as neutrality when King is involved.
probably. there was nothing left of Hagler and took one last fight. Duran would be facing a much slower, and greatly handicapped Hagler with virtually zero energy and even easier to hit, with virtually no jab on top of that,, one whose gloves moved as though they were loaded with cement and hit with less power than what you'd find in a pillow fight with your kid sister Prime Hagler however, ray wouldve had about as much luck hitting Hags as he did Terry Norris poor Leonard, he catches SO much flack nowadays
I'm not sure why you're waffling on about geography and nationality, countries etc. (... All you're telling me is you have a low estimation of Danes and Japanese sense of geography or awareness of other countries. .. I know where Panama is, and I think you do too ... so why smear the entire - and relatively well-educated - populations of Denmark and Japan ? :huh ) I made no mention of nationality in my post so I'm not at all sure what you're trying to respond to. And ? Hagler was a clear winner. The fight wasn't as close as the judges scores reflected.
I think the Marvelous one took both Duran and Leonard too lightly. When he discovered he could not knock out Duran he got frustrated. And that was a close fight so close, in fact, that it convinced Leonard that he had a chance at beating Hagler.
As much as I admired Hagler,I was rooting for Duran big time in their 1983 bout but Marvin won it pretty clearly in my view. I scored it 9-5-1. A 1987 version of the 'Marvelous' one still takes it albeit by a closer margin.
I knew Top Rank promoted it but I could have sworn King was still involved with Duran at that stage. I think I may be mistaken there, He was definitely with Bobbo around the Moore fight.
I actually do believe in the integrity of the judges concerned, and their neutrality which is why I think they scored it correctly, and you didn't. Not that it is at all relevant but I would bet there are millions of my fellow English, that shown an atlas of the world with no writing, but just borders printed on it wouldn't have a clue where Panama is. I suspect the same would be true of plenty of Danes, and Japanese folks too. Ffs even the president of Murica, couldn't point out the location of the country he sent his troops to invade on an atlas.
That is true, though not really relevant. Leonard didn't even have the cajones to defend the WBC Middleweight title. Tommy and Roldan fought for it 6 months later. So Marvin could have jumped back into the mix if he truly thought the Leonard fight was either. 1. A robbery or 2. Just a bad day at the office Nah, IMHO he simply knew he no longer had it at that level, so he did the sensible thing and turned it in.
