don't know the answer, but I do know it's not Ali, not be a long shot as he was fundamentally flawed in a number of areas, and like RJJ depended on his speed and athletic abilities to overcome those flaws. Might find away to get Whitaker, Louis, and SRR on that list though.

Pfffft! Who knows really? I mean the ten most talented technicians with all the technicians there have been in different eras? I love lists but even i'm not sure you can make this list mean anything. Nevertheless ten names you haven't considered that you might:

    Harold Johnson
    Joe Louis
    Roman Gonzalez
    Ray Robinson
    Alexis Arguello
    Luis Manuel Rodriguez
    Manuel Ortiz
    Wilfredo Gomez
    Michael Spinks
    Marvin Hagler

    Hw- Charles, Walcott or Corbett
    LHW - Harold Johnson
Mw- Toney. McCallum and Gibbons are there as well.
Ww- Barney Ross or Jack Britton
    Lw- Gans or Leonard
    Fw- Pep
    Bw- Canizales
    Flw- Ricardo Lopez (heheh)

Pick 8, add Whitaker. Then add a pressure fighter (Duran, Chavez, Chang,) for diversity.

    Duran , Witherspoon , McCallum , Sanderline Williams , Orlin Norris ,
Juan LaPorte (who beat him aside from Gomez when probably drained?) .
List can be completed out of ze below:

Byrd stays out due 2 being unaware offensively as was shown l8 in his career. But he was a skilled technician.
Whitaker fared even better in his career, but he was not tested in extreme disadvantages like Byrd was.

Mauricio Herera and Darnell Boone will forever remain under8ed in zis department.

Marion Wilson , Montell Griffin , Tony Thornton , James Toney , Marvin Hagler , Muhammad Qawi , Vince Phillips , Frankie Randall , Shane Mosley and Hector Camacho all deserve consideration if not inclusion.

like people said, there is no definitive list, i tried to get 10 guys whose skills kept them at a high level after the body was declined, or whose skills made them competitive at higher weights.

whitaker, duran, rigo, floyd, mcallum, pep, hopkins, charles, moore,

i'd like to make burley the 10th, but there isn't enough film of him, a few other guys left out for lack of film too. langford would deserve his place. could put kalambay in, but that is not quite in line with the criteria, and im not sure he's better than guys like pastrano, rodriguez, lopez ect.
